that i am i actualy pre paid for the g4/800 back in oct/nov have bought all the other components ready to put it all together

I've been waiting since 1 November 2002 for an A1-XE G4 starter system. In the latest issue of 'Total Amiga' Alan Redhouse wrote that XE's were shipping 'at the time of writing' but that some may not yet have arrived because of the need to test each board. I understand that was about three weeks ago and I don't think any have been delivered yet :(
On another note, has anybody ever had a reply to an e-mail to Eyetech, or is it just me on their kill-file?
-
@poweramiga2002
I have no idea how far they are with delivery. I am not really following it. I got mine allready. And that was a developer board. But I am sure it should be any day now, right? Maybe someone else has some more info.

Alan's last post said something like...
.... "We expect to receive them next week"...
(Thats This Week)
... "and start shipping them out the following week."
(Next Week)
So Hopefully they should be with people by the end of March.

Yes, I bought a new TFT monitor in December because I thought the A1XE was coming for Christmas. It hasn't been out of the box yet!

Got one once, but every time I have spoken to Eyetech over the phone about my order I have heard paper shuffling and turning going on. So it would appear that they have the orders written out in paper form.
Pointless bit of information but there you have it
Like you, and most other people on here, I ordered mine back in Novemeber.
The article in Total Amiga did it mention anything about the new SE board ?
Does anyone know exactly or roughly howmany people have taken up the earlybird offer.
50? 200? 500? 1000? few thousand ?

lempkee
at least we can set them up ready ill have a dabble at linux untill os4 arrives i just want my A1 here in front of me
-
It will be much faster. The internal bandwidth, the CPU, the AGP port is much much faster than anything in the classics. 68K emulator may be a limiting factor, yet even in the worst case it will be faster than your current configuration.
-
@Warface/poweramiga2002 (shouldn't that be 2003 ?) :-D
or maybe 2004 :-o :-P
No it won't be faster than 060/50 (and you can just forget
about the 603 here). UAE with static 68k-emu is all you are
going to have for the time being, so you should expect:
68030/50 (best case) and a GFX-card that combines the speed
(or better lack of) of a Picasso2 with the memory of a Voodoo.
-
Yes, UAE is slow, as there is no JIT UAE for the PPC (AFAIK). I was referring to OS4, when it will be available.

Earlybird gets the worm.

Its good to see there are people in the world immuned to the sheep syndrome if we stick to our guns the amiga will thrive once again and we wont fall into the pc sheep syndrome trap
