Not a Winuae prob. I'm familiar with, can you replicate the issue when running in safe mode?

yup.. on the first screen after the demo, i cant see a mouse pointer (the load yes no screen) but if i swap mouse to the first port then move the pointer the options flick from yes to no really fast...

is it a laptop issue with the touchpad / mouse nipple?

What are your overscan preferences?  If you have the screen all of the way to the left then the sprites won't work and that includes the mouse pointer.  I think the closest to the left you can have the overscan prefs set to with functional sprites is 72.

On AmigaOS 2.0 or newer they are in the Prefs drawer (the one with a question mark icon).
