Title: Handheld UAE
Post by: Dan on August 04, 2005, 09:02:28 AM

The new handheld from Gamepark. Should be able to run UAE but it´s only 250Mhz. Oh well maybe somebody integrates a 68k->ARM JIT in an optimized UAE.

Yeah 250Mhz isn't really enough to run UAE... I really want a nice 68k->ARM JIT too :-)

I`m running UAE in my PSP now and is a little slow. I played Superfrog and Project X with frameskip.
The PSP version is very recent and I think it can be optimized a lot.

Hi,

The article states that the unit has dual ARM9 cores - wouldn't this help (if a version of UAE was re-written to take advantage of it)?

Being a GP32 owner for 3 years i follow the chance of an Amiga emulator on the GP32 dev forums with eagle eyes and even with this new GPx2 its seems the Amiga emulator UAE is not possible (never say never) a winfellow type emulator maybe possible,i've always found the GP32 to be very Amiga like anyway with the SNES emulator we play Flashback ,Sensi Soccer and gods just to name a few i wont mention the fact that we play movies,MP3/ogg and even some pc games  Quake runs great on a GP32.Of all the GPx2 emulators i wish for it is an Amiga emulator lets hope it can happen.

I'd say probably not a great deal... just because the timing is so critical in UAE...

Anyway, 400Mhz XScale is more than able to run UAE realy well, it just needs a 68k->ARM JIT :-)

I tried UAE on my Ipaq 5550 pocket pc it is very slow even with 400mhz ! but as far as i know it is just a non optimized port.

Would be neat though to play Genetic Species on a handheld  :-P

Yeah PocketUAE is a very early port, but if you tweek it a bit it will run at A500 speed without frame skip... though the sound is eratic.

Isn´t it one arm-CPU and one arm-GPU @ 250Mhz? :-?
