Title: Scsi cd-rw drives
Post by: Robert17 on July 24, 2005, 06:23:00 PM
Hey all, anyone recommend a place to buy a scsi cd-rw drive? I know they're on ebay but they mostly seem to go for silly money, I wondered if there was a dealer who still stocks them? I'm in the UK and I want it for CyberstormPPC scsi  :-)

You thinking of getting a 50pin one and getting a 68pin/50pin adapter?

I already have a 50 to 68 pin adaptor, not sure if you can get cd-roms with 68pin connector, can you?

Finding a 68pin SCSI cd-rom is like finding an C= A4000T for under $200
I've got my IDE cd-rom connected to my CS PPC SCSI chain with an acard ide --> UW SCSI adapter

I've seen the Acard adaptors, how much is the going rate for one and do you get a good speed out of them? It would seem a better idea as IDE drives are obviously going to be about for a while yet :-)

I use the ACard adaptors aswell, and I can burn 600 MB in 2 minutes. I think I paid 40 USD each for the 3 I'm using, bought on eBay.

Found mine on Ebay too, using them in my PC also for my U320 SCSI chain for connecting my dvd-rom and dvd-rw
