Commodore LCD on German Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3406705231&category=8142) ... any bright comments would be welcome. Have no clue what it is.

Not muhc mroe than the obvious, looks like an amber LCD screen, much like gameboys used to have, it also looks like it need a special hardware port, to plug into. Did commodore ever make laptops?
-
I wouldn't buy anything from a person who puts "surprise music" on an EBay page. :-x
-
Hi,
Did commodore ever make laptops?
Yep, 286 and 384 versions, Saw one on ebay a couple of months back. (A 386 version)
-
Hi,
Have no clue what it is.
Its an LCD display :-D
As for what its off, I dont know, Definatly not an Amiga laptop like he says. Commodore made many things, It could simply be off a graphics calculator or such like.
Did anyone see the CDTV PAL video card he was selling, it was actually off the prototype CDTV CR, I was going to bid but time went to fast and I logged on half hour late :-( but it got a good price so people must have known what it was.

CDTV CR?
-
I do know that Commodore has made a 128 with LCD screen, but that wasn't very compatible with the normal 128 ...
-
Thats because it wasn't a C128 at all, it was just an LCD computer with Commodore BASIC and some office applications. It was never sold, which is a shame because for the time is was supposed to be pretty cool. The office applications were supposedly good for the time.
Commodore LCD page at "Secret Weapons of Commodore" (http://www.floodgap.com/retrobits/ckb/secret/lcd.html).
Before I went there, I thought the ebay page would be one of these (and that would have been an amazing find :), but its not. The Commodore LCD portable is too old to have surface mount chips.

Hi,
CDTV CR?
Time for a plug :-D

Hi Effy
I think that is just the LCD display of the Commodore LCD 128. That was the C-128 as laptop with a very crisp LCD display and integrated wordprocessor, sreadsheet and DB. Unfortunately it never materialized, except for some fully functional prototypes.

Hmm, comparing the photos from the Ces article and the ebay page, the displays look different, the Ebay one is wider. It could be another (more recent) Commodore prototype.

Hmm, tempting. But i'm not that crazy :-)

It's pretty interesting how they advertise it. It MIGHT be this amazing this or that cool and collectible thing that "Amiga" folks would like to have. It's even got a BOING! ball in one of the pics.
He's envoking the "Amiga" name in order to boost the price. It's like when people sell gumball dispensers on there. All they have to do is put "MST3K" or "Tom Servo" in the advert and they get 200 bucks for something you can buy probably for less than 20. :-/
-
True. The only thing that looks real are the Commodore logo's on the chips. And it does look recent and not that old 128 with LCD screen. Question remains : what is it ?
-
That reminds me : Is there any way to see "the deathbed vigil" ? does it exist in Divx ? I'd love to see this.
pX
PS - oops, found it

@xaccrocheur:
The deathbead vigil is available as MPEG from Cloanto. It's included on their Amiga Forever CD. It's pretty poor quality.
edit:
Oops, didn't notice your PS!
Well at least the Cloanto MPEG version works in all countries, regardless of the format/region of your TV or DVD.

Hi!
I owned a 286 Commodore Laptop from 1991 to 1994. The dark grey surface feeled like velvet :-)
ciao...
-
Yeah, in a way it looks like a Commodore laptop screen .... don't really see what that has got to do with an Amiga ?!
-
It looks like one of the post-1994 Commodore products. The German market was flooded with Commodore branded paper shredders (imitate your Commodore heroes by shredding real money!!) and various other items. Escom sold some of the computer orientated items in their store, but the majority of Commodore items are unseen outside Germany.
