Title: Amiga fans in Toronto
Post by: zedguy on July 10, 2005, 03:11:25 AM
If there's any Amiga fans in Toronto (or Canada for that matter) looking for a place to talk Amiga, open source, or post events on same, you might be interested in checking out:
www.YYZTech.ca (http://www.yyztech.ca)

Right now the news and the forums are the main things working, but we're hoping to add a proper events section soon.

It's in the "preview" stages now, but we're hoping to become a local centre for computer fans, so come by, check it out, and tell us what we're doing wrong (or right!) :)

Thanks,
Zoltan Hunt
Editor, www.YYZTech.ca (http://www.yyztech.ca)

BTW: If anyone tries the site out with iBrowse or Aweb, if there's any major problems, tell me, and maybe we can fix those. Personally, I haven't got it aWeb or up and running on my A1 yet.

Sorry, I don't think so. Half my family is from the U.K., but I don't know a 'Zolan', sorry.

Not bad Zoltan. :-) I just tried it with Aweb and had no problems. It's nice to see a site with Canadian content (and Canadian spellings!). I don't live in Toronto, but I work a few blocks from the CN Tower.

Nice effort!

Not bad Zoltan,

Did you ever work for Comspec?
I think you worked for Some Computer Store in the Toronto area?

No, but I did shop there :)

I haven't been in years, though I think they now more of an internet company - their history page doesn't mention Commodore or Amiga, but I remember the Wilson Ave. address (www.comspec.com (http://www.comspec.com/2170.html)). I remember going in there a few years after Commodore crashed and I think they where selling Acorn Archimedes (http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=75) (I think it was this one, though I might be getting it mixed up with Amstrad) computers.

Thanks - just spelling things the way I was taught in school :-)

That's good news about Aweb, I usually try to do websites so they are usable on something other than the lastest windows browsers- Not much use putting Amiga info onto a website you can't access on and Amiga. Have you tried the forums out yet? it's phpBB, so I have limited control over that section, but I'd be interested to know.

Thanks,
Zoltan
