Title: Netgear MA401 + A1200
Post by: chmod on July 06, 2005, 10:47:41 PM
Just dusted out my old A1200 with 3GB and amitek hawk 4 meg ram card after reading about using the MA401 wireless.

Maybe its me but i'm kinda rusty with it after so long.  I've install the prism2 (v1.2) driver and also cardreset with cardpatch utils.  AmiTCP 4.1. Put these at the top of s:startup-sequence

-------------
c:cardpatch
c:cardreset
c:setprism2defaults SSID NOKEY
-------------

Setup the AmiTCP to use prism2.device and also my ip address and other odds and sods.  My gateway is a windows xp pro which is already setup to share with other pc's.

OK, now i reboot and the light on the card goes solid green.
AmiTCP reports that it can't start, so i run startnet, same again.

I tried an old version of miami (v1.x?) and it says prism2.device is busy.

If anyone has any clues here please let me know because having wireless on my old miggy would be really nice :)

Regards,
chmod.

As a diagnostic test, you could try opening the device with SANAUtil (available on Aminet) from the shell:

sanautil device prism2.device status

Yup just tried it, came up with the correct mac address as default but nothing for current and 1100000bps speed 48bit addressing, nothing much else though.  Although when run, it make the green light flash.  I'm gonna try the latest evalution of miami, maybe my old amitcp 4.1 is bad or something.
