Hello. I also have a A500, rev6a . It was fine until 2yrs ago, when it died. I have managed to get some repair kit, an I fixed it (even CIA and Fat Agnus were busted).
I have noticed that the mem expansion (A501 compatible) doesn't work anymore, and the Workbench 1.3 reports 360k free RAM, instead of the usual ~420k. This means that half of one memory chip (44256) has gone to silicon heaven. Any ideeas how can I determine the one that is semi-fried?
:-? :-?
Btw, my ma has managed to wreck both my remote control and partially my TV (the memory block; the TV can't keep the settings, so whenever I start it I have to set the colours, contrast and luminosity), for the moment I can use the TV only B&W, so I can't tell if the miggy warns me about faulty chip RAM.

I question the power supply. Seriously. If there are that many fried chips, something caused it.

Well, it might be... If you read my other post about my A1200, then I have to tell you that I use them both with the same PS; so the PS might be the guilty one.
I mean, a plain vanilla 500 usually lists ~420k free mem;
mine, 360k...

so just replace chips or get a new mobo
