Anyone know if these actually work?

Yes, they work.  No need to spend so much on one though.  Just get a Netgear MA401 for <$10 off of eBay and the driver from Aminet.

Thanks for the model number, I just grabbed one off of Amazon.Com for 9.99 + 5.xx shipping.
