Greetings,
Me and my friend were working on his A500 with a GVPSCSI HDD and an External SCSI CDROM.
Only trouble we have so far is the A500's gvpscsi.device did not detect the CDRom without removing the HDD. We suspect the GVPSCSI.device drive needs a proper upgrade. I told him to find one on the net for the answers! His faaast prep software was a version 1.0. It did not detect the CDRom Drive. BTW, I also tried to run HDToolbox, but fail to detect both devices and 'require a driver' to 'save changes'. Only FaaastPrep can be run under the A500.
We tested the same HDD and CDROM on an A3000. It detected both without any problem using HDToolbox and able to 'save changes'.
What's the problem here? Do I need to download a patch for the GVPScsi.device so both CD and HDD would function properly?
Thanks and greatly appreciate for your help!
Regards,

Check the scsi chain termination. You're going to need cdrom driver software (e.g. Asim, cachcdfs, etc.).

Hmmm... your controller may not be able to see more
than one device. There may be upgraded roms for it.
(I don't really know)
I had a RocTec HDD on my A500 and after a great amount
of testing I came to the conclusion it would only do
one device. With a HDD installed in case it would not
reconize the the external pass-thru port. If I removed
the HDD from the case then the external port worked.
You might have better luck with the GVP.
The rom is probably the problem and its possable GVP
did an up-grade for them.
