Ok, I hooked up a better power pack and all that. Yet when ever I goto format a drive that is over 400 Mb, it reaches a certain percent then the format window just vanishes.
What would cause this?
I'm on a 1200, and the drive is a 2.5 1.5Gb Toshiba, etc. Cables are fine, everything is fine, it just don't work. Does Amiga hate Toshiba?
Fast Format works fine. Just can't format normal.
Edit: I just chopped the drive up into a bunch of 250Mb partitions. Parition 1 formatted fine. Partition 2 gets to 56% then the screen vanishes.

I've seen this happen on PCs before. Usually indicitave of a physically bad HD.

I'd try with another drive... the one you have seem flawed.

I had the same problem with a 3.5 640 Mb Seagate drive; Only thing that worked was to avoid the "bad" area (aprox 90 Mb), so I made a 150 Mb partition at the beginning of the disk, and a 400 Mb partition at the end, the bad area between them; If you have a partitioning software that can create a partition at the and of the disk, there's your solution;

ha ha, that's funny. Think I'll trash the thing and just save up for another. I'm burned out for the time being and think I need a brake from copmuters in general.
Thankx. ;)
