Hey Folks,
I have a ton of LZX files I would like to extract on the PC before sending them across the network to the miggy.
Anyone know of a PC extractor that can do this?
I have looked with no joy currently. Thought it might be easier to ask.
cheers Amiga lovers :-D

There is an PC extractor, W95unlzx.lha. You could find it on www.aminet.net.
It also works with Windows XP

Thanks Amiga1260,
I have actually looked at that one. Problem is its command line and as far as I can tell you can't pass it wildcards. I'm going to have to write a big ugly script or something to unpack the thousand or so files I have. Was hoping for a util that might make life easier, Otherwise I will have to do it slowly on the Miggy.
Cheers again :-)

How about UnLZX2.lha, also on Aminet? The M$ version is older, so maybe it doesn't have all the features, but this is from the readme:
I was tired of all those UnLZX ports which depack to the current dir
and don't support pattern-matching for output files.
So I had to do it...
Usage: UnLZX
-v - view archive contents
-x - extract archive
-o - depack to path
-p - only depack matching files
NEW since 2.06: use Unix-like wildcards (*, ?)
New since the last release
- when viewing an archive, the compression ratio is shown in percent
- when extracting with pattern, only processed files are shown now
- source change, slight speed increase

Melange : simply visit http://xavnet.chez.tiscali.fr/lzx/index.html
Moreover the unlzx.c source is very universal ;-)

Wouldn't it be more sensible to send them over the network whilst still compressed and extract them on the Amiga?
Less network traffic.

Thanks folks,
UNlzx2 did the trick.
I thought about sending them over compressed, but the Ami takes a long time to extract, The PC just did it very quickly. There was about 1500 compressed files almost 2gig worth, would have taken the Amiga a while. The PC did it in about 10 Mins. Yeah it's fast but it's still crap. If the Ami had the processing power the PC has, it would kick the PC's ass performing the same task I have no doubt.
Thanks again all :-D

You need to get Amithlon then! :-)

I use ExtractNow on the pc to extract those archives. Powerarchiver also does the trick.

:-P an what about unpacking under WinUAE
-
Thanks again folks
Are u sure LZX can be unpacked by powerarchiver? I use something called ultimate zip, which I thought was nothing more than powerarchiver in disguise, it does lha and lzh but not lzx.
And yes, damn, why didn't I think of the WinUAE thing. That probably a solution for lots of things.
Gotta figure out this network speed thing now. Going to take 5 Days to copy the data across. What a joke.
