Hi
I got an Apollo A630 which i got a few years ago new from a World of Amiga show...
Unfortunately it never worked too well with the revision of A600 motherboard i have..
Got a bit of a modification on it in that the crystal has been socketed so as to make it changable for different clock speeds.
Does anyone know how much these go for these days seeings as they are quite rare! its a 68030 running at 33mhz (depending on which crystal is in it) and a 32meg simm
also got various other a600 and a500 bits floating about but dont really know how much any of it is worth
Any advice helpful... cheers

It's a bit hard to say as it isn't clear if the a630 is working or not.. if it is ~100USD?
The a600 gear might also be worth something, depending on what it is.
-
Its working just it doesnt work too brilliant with the revision board i have (1.5 i believe)
its got a crack on the fpu socket too but as long as it isnt played with once it is fitted it worked ok
might keep it for a tower project but its more of a something to do while building it job rather than building it to use as the a600 isnt really upto much these days as far as i can see
anyone any ideas on keyboard adaptors which work with the a600??
-
Yea - well I'll offer $60 USD on the off chance you want to sell it. Any other gear you have for the a600 I may be interested in also.

Are two good "extreme upgrading" websites for the a600.

I believe a working Apolle 630 would go for more than 100 USD. Personally I wouldn't mind paying 100 USD for a working 630 board, but I haven't got an Amiga 600 anymore, so it wouldn't make much sense :-D
About keyboard adaptors, try to take a look at www.amiga-hardware.com and go through the bar on the left where you will find all equipment catagorised.
Isn't the A600 using the same keyboard interface as an A1200? If so, any A1200 keyboard adaptors should work with A600 aswell.

Not much more than $100USD

This just ended.

i am not so sure that the interface for the a600 keyboard is the same as the 1200 when i looked into it quite a while ago
what practical uses would a 68030 a600 have these days??
used to be used for running my bbs and web browsing with alynx... but what with now having a pc then there isnt much call for using the amiga for this... what other uses is there??
is it worth spending a few quid on getting some 3.1 roms, keyboard adaptor (unless i make one with atx psu support) wireless/wired lan card and Compact flash adaptor and shove it all in a tower case or is it worth leaving it tucked away in its box with the 2nd a600 and a500 with a570 cd drive
also i would need to get a different revision motherboard to use with the a630.... more cash to spend
also whats the stance on connecting it to a 15inch tft

@BenShep
Well, I wouldn't determine a cards value out of one single ebay auction. I have seen Blizzard PPC boards, fully working, with 68060, 240 MHz 603 and SCSI go for 300 EURO but have also seen some go for over 500 EURO.
@ming
If I were you I would use it for games in it's standard casing. A nice compact system, with the juice to play most games (no AGA games obviously). As you say, you can get your internet shoot by using the PC :-)

Well there was an auction last week on a nz auction site where a boxed a630 went for not much more than this also.
I guess people could be willing to pay much more than this, but I haven't seen much evidence of it recently.
I agree with the rest - don't tower it.
-
thats the thing... towering would be good for not having to have an unsightly power supply sitting on the desk with a cd drive and cable dangling out of the side
i aint much of a games player neither so the games isnt that tempting to me
got a 2nd a600 i would leave in its case as it has no yellowing so looks nice and new
my apollo 630 is still boxed too :D

You probably get the most for it if you sell it on ebay in europe; germany for instance. Seen these things go for well over 150 eur.

@ Ming
If you don't want the A600 for games, then I advise you sell it with the 630 card inside, and then get an A1200 and tower that. I can't see a practical use for an 030 in an A600 if you aren't playing games. If you want to mess around with graphics /raytracing / MP3 then you should try for an A1200 with an 060.

@Ming
I wouldn't sell the A630 board if I were you. You could construct a (my) dream A600 with it. Put a 4-way ide adaptor, internal ide laptop cdrom, ide compact flash drive, pcmcia wireless or standard lan card, external flicker fixer on the 23-pin 23 port and a nice svga monitor (recommend a Sony Trinitron). With 3.1 ROMs, a 68030, 32MB fast, 2MB (including trapdoor), you can do anything on the net with the a600 all in the original case. It's the equivalent of a similar spec'd A2000/3000 with a much smaller footprint. Check out those A600 upgrade sites (seeing is believing).
btw, the ribbon cable for the a600 keyboard is a bit narrower than the A1200. I know because I tried (anyone have a spare a600 keyboard?).

after getting some stuff sorted i am going to keep the a600 stuff to compliment my amithlon setup!
i have 2 complete amiga 600's neither of which work with the apollo 630 coz of the mobo revision! gutted
amikit are seling a600 mobo's so just gotta decide on a rev once i have found what works!
