Hi,

You could try here http://www.amigadeals.co.uk/software.htm

I have used this company in the past and they have given me excellent service.

I can see they have IDE Max '97 in stock, but you can get
EIDE'99 with an IDE 4-way interface for the same price at
http://amiga-shop.amigakit.com/ (look under hard drives).

I have also used this company in the past and they are excellent as well.

Hope this helps.

 :-)

Christ, at that price you might as well just update your OS!!!

I swear the Amiga market is backwards at times.

PowerComputing gave the IdeFix97 registration data for free on theyr site (a couple of years ago).

Don't remember why . . . and its no more available now.

Someone remember this?

Hi,

If that is the case, does that mean IDEFix97 is now public domain?  And if so where can one now get the serial # for use?

IDEfix is *not* public domain. What Power Computing did was illegal. Here is another source for a legal copy: http://www.vesalia.de/e_idemax97.htm

Malakie, (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here, but..) you only need to use IDEfix if you're going to run an ATAPI device on the second IDE port using an IDE splitter (a device which plugs into your single A4000 or A1200 IDE port and converts it to two IDE headers - thus allowing you to connect four IDE devices: two masters, two slaves).

If you are just planning to connect a hard drive and a CD drive to your internal IDE port without using such a splitter you do not need IDEfix - although you may need to patch scsi.device if you're using OS3.1 .
I'm sure someone knows more about this than I do.

I was able to use CD drives on my A1200's IDE port using scsi.device, so I didn't need IDEfix. But when I was using IDE on my A4000, the CD drive wouldn't work with scsi.device. I had to use atapi.device from IDEfix.

I have the IDEFix hardware and software and a registration slipp with printed code but I can't get it to work... anyone got any info on why that might be? In desperation I even tried the actual code PowerComputing gave out back then but same... code not accepted for unknown reason. :(

Would be nice now that I'm thinking of adding not only internal CD but also CompactFlash to my A1200HD... so I need the extra ports.

@Brian - iirc all the fields are case sensitive - if, for example, the user name is "Nidividual Mocputing", then "nidividual mocputing" will not work.

@Moto - I'm sure I read somewhere that there is a patch which alllows scsi.device to use atapi devices, although only on the primary IDE - not the secondary.

Have never needed it though, as the first a1200 4-way I bought had a Power Computing registration letter with registratoin code.
