just got my hands on a pcmcia nic, 3com 3c589B and was thinking of getting my 1200 online. Of course I need a tcp/ip stack and drivers for the nic but I guess I can find this at aminet. The question is: how do i move the files from my pc computer to the amiga without a network?? amiga can read dos disc´s but not hd discs...can my pc read dd discs? or does any1 else has an easy solution?
Im running an old orginal a1200 with workbench3.0. I also wonder how the heck I check which kickstart i have..guess I could disconnect my hd and check the screen during boot but there most be some easier way :)

3.5 inch double density floppy disks, formatted to MSDOS 720K :-) Acceptable everywhere. Unlike MSDOS itself

Yes, and to check your Kickstart version, go to Workbench and select About from the `Workbench` menu.
Kickstart version 39.xx means Kickstart 3.0
And if you get 40.xx for some reason, that means Kickstart v3.1

Hey Wayne!
How about putting up an FAQ section for these kind of questions?
edit:
No, I'm not a fan of the RTFM mentality, but it would be less typing if you could just refer to the FAQ :-)

gee.thats some quick answears..thanks alot everybody! :)
about an howto...at least I think that sounds like an great idea.
I really miss some good spots on the net there I can read howto´s and manual´s...but maybe im just spoiled from the linux community or dont have the url to right amiga howtos.

Another way would be to use TwinXpress from aminet and a null-modem cable (explained in the archive)

I used put2pc(available from aminet) recently, to transfer files from amiga to pc. You run the prog on both machines and then mount the PC (in amiga shell simply 'mount pc:'), and it appears as pc: then I assume you can transfer from pc to amiga by 'copy pc:c/games/filename ram:' (for example)
Oh you need a parallel cable (or serial !!)
