Title: Is this standard A500 RAM expansion?
Post by: giantweta on June 11, 2005, 07:05:00 AM
I really don't want to unsolder the case to take it apart just to see the circuit board, so, anyone know for sure what this is?

Looks like a bog standard Commodore-Amiga A501 memory expansion card.  The battery is probably leaking and ruining your card as we speak.  Open it up and remove the NiCad battery!

Looks like a Commodore 501 512K memory expansion for the A500. :)

Yep

Exactly the same tin box I had in my A500 1989-1993
Raised my 512kb ram to 1meg  :-P

Looks like the A501 which adds 512K of fast ram & battery backup real time clock. You should be able to unsnap the cover without unsoldering anything. You should do this to check the battery for leakage & replace it if it is, before the board is destroyed.
