Title: 600 Power pack on a 1200
Post by: XDelusion on June 11, 2005, 03:44:56 AM
Does a 600 power pack put out less power than the 1200 one?

The reason I ask is because my 1200 will be fine for a long time, then after a while I may go an turn it on, and it will not see the Hard drive at all! I cold boot, nothing, the HD light does not even flash.

It should power it up.........because the PSU's are identical if I remember correctly..........the A500 one is slightly more powerful........the reason your A1200 is not powering up is be cause its time for a more powerful PSU.

My 1200 is powering up, it's just that sometimes at random, the HD will not respond.

@XDelusion
Perhaps it has something to do with a bad harddrive, can you hear if it spins up or not when the machine can't find it? Do you have a turboboard in the machine?

@leirbag28
The A500 PSU is not just slightly more powerfull... it's actually twice as powerfull with it's 50W as the A600/1200 with it's 23-25W.

I don't have any enhancements on my motherboard yet. It's stock as stock can get.

I do have a PC XT Power pack adaptor on the way, so I'll hook it up and see. HD Tools says the drive is perfect.
