where in the world can i find a web page for the amiga os, specifically amiga os for PPC (does it exist?) . all i've found is stuff saying that Amiga os has either been sold to eyetech or hyperion, or KMOS. but visiting the homepages for these companies shed no light on it whatsoever.
and would it be possible to put amiga os on apple hardware?

I think this link (http://www.intuitionbase.com) is what you are looking for. And no, AmigaOS for the PPC, dubbed AOS4 for short, is not likely to run on Apple hardware ever.
-
The net hub for the A1/OS4 is AmigaWorld. Another forum is problably not what you're lookng for, but nothing else exists. Eyetech & Hyperion live there.
AW (http://www.amigaworld.net/)
OS4 won't run on a Mac/Apple system. Not all PPC systems are the same hardware wise & OS4 can only be bought with the purchase of an A1.

There's also an AmigaOS compatible OS called MorphOS that runs on classic amigas with PPC and on Pegasos.
Pegasos (http://www.pegasosppc.com/)
morphos (http://www.morphos-team.net/)
Freescale, the company that makes the G4s also sells full Pegasos under the ODW label.

That would make obvious sense. We can't have that, now can we?

For that to happen Apple would have to licence the OS from Amiga Inc. which will never happen. Just let it rest. Apple is dumping the PowerPC chips next year anyway.

Exactly why MACSRULE has decided to join an Amiga Chat Board.
:-)
Welcome! I've always thought of Macs and Amigas as cousins.
Many of us have both. G4 desktop myself, sold my Cube.

exactly plaz. im one of those PPC freaks. but now that apple is moving to intel, i though i'd start looking for a new platform that uses PPC. i've already looked into pegasos, and its great, but not really as fast as i would like (1ghz g4, c'mon) so i ran across this, looks pretty good. thanks for your replies.
EDIT: where can i buy a new a1?

Ture, to be ported someone needs to license it from Amiga, Inc. But, it doesn't have to be Apple themselves.

Amiga is concidered a nitch these days and working towards a revival,
so it's not like going out to get a clone or Mac these days unfortunatly.
You might want to check these sites too. They're Amiga emulators for Mac.
This one freeware...Amiga UAE MacOS (http://worldserver.oleane.com//ablancha/uae.htm)
And this is a very nice commercial one with lots of extras and apps already installed...
AmigaForever For Mac (http://www.amigaforever.com/mac/)
You might try them out and see what AmigaOS is like.

Really??? You don't say?!?! ;)
It's not just Apple, BTW. Nobody will get that licence, even in the unlikely event that someone would try (which has actually happened).
Thank you, Eyetech!
Just let it rest. Apple is dumping the PowerPC chips next year anyway.
And I still think separately sold AmigaOS copies for PPC Macs would STILL be a gazillion times better option for AmigaOS, Hyperion, AInc and us users than the "AmigaOnes". At least as a stop gap measure to actually SELL SOMETHING to fund the x86_64 port. :)

There's a version of MorphOS above the ancient beta (0.4?) available for PowerUPped classics?

At least internal betas, nothing public.
