Title: PCMCIA CDROM on A1200
Post by: on November 06, 2002, 11:41:56 AM
Hi, I recently got a used A1200 (I'm back, last time was in 1990-91!).

Now, I have a PC laptop with a PCMCIA CDROM, (Teac CD-224PE) and I wonder if I can get it working on my A1200?

Another thing, the previous owner had lost his manuals and I have forgotten many details on the amiga. Does anybody know if I can download the manuals or perhaps a tutorial on the OS somewhere?

;-) Try looking on Aminet for PCMCIA CD drivers.  One of them may work.

:-( No idea regarding manuals, though.

:-D Just hang around here.  We'll be happy to show you the ropes...

IIRC there was a driver on Aminet for some Laptop CD-ROMs (i could be wrong though), whether yours would work or not is another matter... I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Maybe the old Archos/Zappo drivers might work (hey its worth a try :) but really, I don't think its all that likely to work...

Amiga Realm (http://www.amigarealm.com) has a lot of really great information and links

Also, try the Amiga University (http://www.amigau.com)

You need a Amiga PCMCIA interface, if the laptop drive is SCSI you can
use it with a Squirrel SCSI PCMCIA interface.

The Amiga OS is qute simple, if you get stuck you could ask here!

AMiGARealm Web Directory (http://www.amigarealm.com) is a
good place to have a look.
amiga.emugaming.com (http://amiga.emugaming.com) is another.
Try google as well :-)

Welcome back!
