Title: Fleecy Moss is back
Post by: lorddef on May 31, 2005, 10:53:20 PM
Maybe if I rename the post to something allong the lines of the usual boring stuff someone will reply? (was "HD Installed games, JST windowed?")

I've just installed JST so I can have a play at installing some games. I've installed road rash and lotus 3.

The problem is that when I run the games I have to crawl around the back of my tower and unplug the monitor cable from my Voodoo3 and plug it into my sd/ff.

This is a ball ache. Is there any way JST will run windowed? Or can I retarget?

I have a PCI tv card if that gives me any options?

If only aw.net was up, I think theres still the odd person over there that would reply to a post like this.

You cant run JST games windowed or retargetted. Games take over machine and bang HW directly. Although JST makes games HD installable it doesnt make games OS friendly.

A while back someone mentioned retargeting aga back through a tv card.

Not on same machine (Amiga). If you have another machine with a TV card it works.

I've read that connecting the Amiga's composite output to the PCI TV card will work. Never tried it first hand, though, and video quality through that port is pretty bad.

I use a basic VGA switchbox to flip between CVision and AGA modes. It's selling point is that it's far cheaper (I paid $15US) and more compatible than a KVM (no PS/2 nonsense). Bad news is that there is some signal degredation. It's only really noticable above 1024x768, though, and I never use resolutions that high on my Amigas. The effects can also be minimized by fiddling with CGXMode/P96Mode.

I heard someone set P96 up to reroute aga back through a TV card whilst keeping P96 at the frontmost screen.

Will wait and see if somebody who has done this replies. Thanks for your input.

@Matt H

Yeah I use a KVM, and I was going to do exactly what you do but it will not switch to a screen that doesn't have a keyboard plugged in. I was thinking maybe it'd be a better idea to see if I can find a ps2 splitter so I have my amiga plugged into both banks on th KVM.

Yes you can run AGA screens through a tv card but i only used it for such things as DPaint 5 and so on.If im correct i think its something to do with Arexx which i know nothing about.Peter Gordon can probably answer all your questions about that actually...
