When AmigaOne XEs come into decent supply, and OS4 becomes widely available, what will there be to argue about so much? Conversation will wind down to Bud advert-like ripoffs!
:-)

Whazzuuuuuuup with you, we'll have lots to talk about!
/carls - watching the .org, having a coffee
:-D

What will you have to talk about, SPLITTER! Going and buying a new PC now of all times! :-)

The obvious...
1-When will Warp3D Nova be finished, and of course:
2-Why are they staying so quite about OS5...GIVE US DETAILS!
-
What will I do then ?
Probraly nothing, but my great-great.....great-grandson
will be busy organizing a party to welcome the new milleinum ....
:-P

I guess first thing that will probably be the case is we'll hear stories like "my first contact with AmigaOs4" or "Cool, it has such or such feature" ...etc.
First couple weeks to enjoy the machine, test performances and discover/get familiar with the system.
Next, people will be proposing ideas for new software development and possible ports, "I would like to see Flash on my Amiga"...etc.
So we'll start seeing many contributions (Apps, Games) and users surfing aminet for new OS4 native archives :)
I also see at this point a massive advertisement compain and Bill MCEwen appearing again on Tech TV.
Then for humiliations, some might come up with WindozXP and OSX emulation on AmigaOne. :-)
By then, we'll have new upgrades ex: OS4.4
The rest you know! ;-)
-
We will probably all move completely to the PC and Windows.
One side will hurd behind DirectX
The others behind OpenGL.
And away we go :flame:

@mikeymike
Hey, I'm going to install Amiga Forever tomorrow ;-)
-
I was thinking of posting something like this.
For me:
1) I'll still be encouraging people that A1 is THE way to go.
But won't be posting often because
2) I'll be trying to learn (ANSI) C (++).
3) Begging Francois Lionet to make a PPC version of AMOS and Compiler.
4) E-mailing Hyperion, AInc., begging for OCS/ECS/AGA emulation.
5) Continue coding my AD&D game. :-)
AmigaOne! A multi-threaded, multi-tasking, multi-faceted gem.

@Athiest
AD&D game? what for Amiga or just roleplaying?
-
I've been working on an AD&D game for a while, using AMOS Pro. My A2000 is at 7.12 MHz, so it's slow going. It's turn based with the original E. Gary Gygax rules. By no means is it near finished, even though it's about 550K in size. Mostly data statements. I haven't quit because, I still think it will be different and interesting in this world of fps and rts stuff that's all over the place. I know it's a game I will enjoy playing, at any rate.
AmigaOne! For the restless reaching creative mind!

You might be in for some luck. Go here (http://www.liquido2.com) for Amos.

Let me know if you finish it, I`d love to have a go at that!!

I think getting the new hardware and OS port/update is only the first step. Then the questions are a) how will the products sell? Enough to pay back their costs? and b) how fast will new PPC software come along? The idea of AmigaOne/AOS4 isn't just to run "classic" Amiga programs, but to try to advance the platform.
These, I think, will be big challenges, maybe bigger than getting the new hardware/OS out. So there should be a lot to talk about, because it won't be an end point. (Though it seems like one after all these months.) It's just the end of one chapter and start of the next.
And then, of course, there's the inevitable comparisons to the alternatives -- MorphOS, AROS, emulations on x86. So times will continue to be interesting and controversial. Hopefully, people can argue about their actual machines and software for a change, not about abstractions like company politics and "what if" predictions about future releases.

Hello Coder,
Thanks for the link.
Hello Rudei,
It's a deal.
AmigaOne! Interesting and compelling new shareware is just around the corner!
