I'm bidding for a 3.1 ROM suitable for A500/A2000.
CLICK HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5184413465)
The bidding will likely go over $50 U.S.
How rare is this chip?

Its what ever you are willing to pay.
How bad do you want it??

They are 29.95 Brand New at Software Hut in West-Chester PA,
and have been for about 2 years. They always have them in stock.

At Vesalia you pay 17.90 EUR for it. Giving the current exchange rate and the shipping cost it`s about the same.
On Amiga-News there was even a small discussion if those ROMs really are lizenzed Originals, as it are only EPROMs and don`t carry the usual serialnumbersticker.

We have brand new Amiga Kickstart ROMs (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=kickstart) here too - no need to pay OTT prices on eBay.
-
That´s the advantage of having an Amiga dealer at this forum, you get immediately an offer with decent prices compared to the amounts some people are willing to pay on Ebay
-
This is what I get for coming here only every few days
When I made my post, there were only a few hours left in the auction. This was the first (and only, so far) single-chip 3.x ROM that I had seen on eBay in months of watching.
I am now the proud :insane: owner of a $43.00 :-o ROM chip.
Please be gentle in heaping upon me the scorn and derision which I so richly deserve.
:roflmao: @ myself

@davide405:
You could always pretend it was a Kickstart 3.1 set for the A3000 or A4000 you just bought, those are generally sold old as new with their price-tags high up in the sky ;=).

As I said before.... if you're happy then thats all that counts.
They are worth (to you) whatever you are willing to pay.
So forget any scorn any other might heap on you.
Thumb your nose at them .. remember .. you have the rom
and they don't :-D

Thats why you gotta love eBay: Where people over pay for stuff! Atleast for you, a Amiga 3.1 ROM is kinda rare, and you didn't know. What gets me is for common off the shelf stuff, people over bid and pay! Even for a freaking DVD movie! I just don't get it...

@TjLaZah:
The heat of the moment probably blurs the judgement.

Winning bid: US $43.00
lol

yeah, nice one. You're quick...

Could these two usernames be a coincidence?
TjLaZah
TjLaZer
?
Is it the same guy? :-)

ALWAYS!!!! check with a dealer before going to eBay! Here in the 'States, Software Hut is hard to beat. There's another dealer in Ohio (I think), but I can't remember their name.
Also, you might want to advertize here in a WANTED type ad. I am sure others have as much older Amiga stuff as I do....

The 3.1 "ROMS" that Petro T personally shipped me years ago were actually EEPROMs too. So i don't think it's too odd to end up with EEPROMs.
-
sorry but . . . why 45US$ are too much for a 3.1 ROM and i.e 750 US$ for a CSPPC are OK? (someone here has sold it for that insane price)
Both are an exageration but . . . if you want/need it! :-)
