Title: Micronik Z3 A1200 Problem
Post by: amiga1260 on April 14, 2005, 09:33:09 AM
I read the other postings, but couldn't find the answer about the problem what I have.

A friend of mine has a Power tower with an A1200 motherboard and a standard ELBOX PSU. Blizzard 1260 accelerator card with 32 MB of RAM .It has an Zorro 3 busboard. I don't know the revision numbers of these boards. He has fitted a Auraplayer in de PCMCIA slot. An Elbox 4xEIDE\'99 Buffered Interface with two cd-roms and two harddrives.

A Cybervision 64/3D graphics card and an Ariadne II network card.

He also put AmigaOS 3.9 over OS 3.5 installation, that causes the problem. I warned him about this problem.

The following symptoms:

-Doesn't boot even without the the IDE stuff or Zorro cards.
-Sometimes it's possible to get in Workbench, but when an icon has been doubleclicked, The computer reboots.
-Even booting workbench from disk has also this problem.

I think that the problem is the Zorro board. I heard that this boards has som mechanical problems. What are these problems?

Have you tried to remove the Blizzard 1260?
Is the libraries for the 060 right installed?

Yesterday and today I tested the whole thing. I got the Blizzard 1260 and 4xEIDE\'99 Buffered Interface working very well, but when I put the zorro board back, it doesn't run. I installed a fresh workbench, 68060 libs and IDE '99 drivers. The revision of the A1200 board is 2b.

Does someone have a installation guide of the zorroboard 3?

The Micronik Z3 board needs an A3000/A4000 accelerator to work properly. You might get it going if you force the busboard into Z2 mode - there's a jumper that does that.

Also, are you powering the board correctly? Power should go through the busboard. You'll need an adaptor to get the PSU's standard AT P8/P9 plugs connected to Micronik's custom power connector. Elbox sells them.

The first user had the custom power connector and before my friend installed OS 3.9, the whole system worked fine. But after he installed OS 3.9. He got very much problems with it. Now I can't get it working again. The jumpers are set correctly.

Using IDEFix? Did you try this:
C:SetPatch NOROMUPDATE
in your startup-sequence instead of the normal setpatch?
