...like the topic says:
Can an Amstrad CPC464 work with a 1084S monitor? With a suitably wired din to d9 that is.
I just want to try the machine in colour without blurring. I have the mono monitor and the UHF modulator, but I don't like using TVs as monitors very much.
Hang on. Conversely I guess the UHF modulator could work with an amiga. Food for thought.

Well the Amstrad RGB is this.

7:- NOT USED
8:- H.SYNC

hmmm....very interesting.
So the amstrad is digital/ttl level?
Now I'm thinking of my other amstrads I've just sort of ended up with. Ie, the ibm compatible one that looks like the a500...don't remember its name atm, and my scary portable that runs off D cells and has a built in modem.
I've been meaning to play with the cpc464 a bit more. Looks like an interesting machine. Been too busy with everything, including torturing my poor a500.
Also been meaning to set up a c64 again. I miss them.

On the back of the 1084S monitor there is 2 buttons that go from TTL RGB to Analogue RGB
I used that monitor for a Commodore C16, Plus 4 and a Commodore 128 using the phono plugs on the back 2 was for Video input the other 2 was for Audio Stereo.
Switching between buttons on th eback would enable either the Video or the RGB 9 pin plug.
At one time via a switch box I would have a Plus4, C128, TV from a video and then into the D-Plug I would have either a Spectrum+2B or the Amiga 1200.
Now its in our bedroom acting as a TV from a Video player, and from a DVD player.
I am at present using a Philips 8833MkII for my Plus4, C128 and TV and the 9 pin D-plug for the Spectrum+2B
They both have sure earnt there keep....
Mike.
Not many people think of using a 1084S or a Philips 8833MkII for a TV via a Video player.

I've known a few people that use their 1084S for exactly that.
It used to be the 3rd monitor on my PC a while ago too.
Are the Philips ones you are referring to the ones that look a lot like an older commodore monitor but badged philips?
Just asking because I noticed an abundance of them in the tv series 'ocean girl' this morning.
reminds me of the c64 in red dwarf.
You have a working plus4. I envy you. I have a dead one :-(
This should be some fun.
