does anybody know when we will get our earlybird A1 comps? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

My best guess (according to the latest info from Alan), is that their either on a ship on the way from Taiwan, or they are at Eyetech HQ being burn-in tested (which is quite time consuming apparently).
-
According to the schedule (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amigaone/message/24927) that Alan told on the A1ML, A1G4XEs should be shipping since last friday or yesterday (monday).
But I'm a little bit worried that it's all too quiet now...
-
Kinda ironic, 'early bird' being delayed ;-)
-
How and why is it delayed ?????? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-o :-o :-o :-o :-x :-x :-x :-( :-( :-( :-(

The last update from Alan Redhouse from Eyetech was on the Thu Feb 13 said, (this is my interpretation on what was said)
- All boards are already built and in Taiwan.
- Developers are testing the latest UBoot on a few XE G4's.
- If(!) the UBoot was ok'd by the Dev team the final UBoot ROM's would be burned in Taiwan.
- The boards would then ship around the Feb 24th
- Postage takes around 4 days.
- Boards then need to be burn tested by Eyetech
- Board sent to me!!!
So, if everything went to plan Eyetech should have the boards now :-D
But as you can see from the above, I suppose there are quite a few opportunities for delay.

:-( :-x

well the last news on ANN, which I know...if I said news on ANN was as reliable as the things Alan Redhouse says....I think you'd know what I mean....
but in any event, the last on ANN, is the boards worked, but the G4 performance was not at all what would be expected for a chip of that spec, and so, in other words, it doesn't really work and its back to the drawing boards.
usually when they go silent something bad is happening....they announce all good news.
-
Whhhaaa? Wheres the emulation problem???
-

Bullshit.
-
That was one spread by the desperate "my Pegasos I is
stuck with a G3 and Ill do anything to prove it is faster
than a G4 at the same clock rate or higher" IIRC.
-
@ cgutjahr
Bulls***.
Would you like to back that outburst with some facts?
Rumours don't get quashed with opinions...

Now Hyperion have already given me a bashing for posting this today but what they say and what alan said seems to have discrepences....
Make your own mind up.....
Rouge... U-Boot Finished for.... "Weeks"
Alan Redhouse 25/02/2003 .... Still waiting for the final version of U-Boot to have the ROMs blown Hyperion should have it finished by friday (28/02/2003)..... Last Friday
Now if you read alans post on the A1 mailing list from around the 13/02/2003. He said they would be shipping on the 24th. This was dependent on the firmware being finished.
Now if the final firmware was only finished last friday this explains why they have not shipped yet. But if the final firmware has been finished for weeks then they should be shipping by now.

We are your potential customers. It only takes 20 people to cancel their order and thats £10000 in board sales + vat your going to loose.

Well.. At least he's alive and back from tiawan. Unfortunately on his post to Amiga-one (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amigaone/message/25688) list he forgot to mention any news about XE status. But that can't be anythng serious.
-
sorry, but 'U-boot finished for weeks' and 'ROMs already blown and mounted on production motherboards' are not the same thing.
neither is the 1st the same as 'the ROM files are in the hands of the manufacturer for blowing'. I would Imagine the last to be true in itself, though.
however, the boards did have to go through testing by MAI and soak/burn/owz yer father testing by Eyetech. and let us not forget getting through customs either.
Joanna (and others you arent alone !), where is Tiawan ? is it near Taiwan ?! :-P

Wait, didn't I hear this somewhere before? Hmm... where did I hear this??
Oh yeah, bbrv said it.
-
Where ? Taiwan ?

-
Wait, didn't I hear this somewhere before? Hmm... where did I hear this??
Oh yeah, bbrv said it.
Really? Oh, then it simply *MUST* be true!
