Title: WB3.9 backdrop problem
Post by: Nigel on March 30, 2005, 10:06:32 PM
I installed wb3.9 properly, and all works fine,
except for setting the workbench as backdrop.
Setting the wb as backdrop works only til the next
restart.

I had some problems before with saving prefs, but
I solved that by setting the 'write'-flag of all
systemfiles.

Snapshot the Workbenchscreen won't help either.
The backdrop problem still remains.

Does anyone have the same problem, e.g. a solution.

A possibility is that the prefs file is being saved into ENV:Sys instead of ENVARC:Sys.  If it's saved in ENV:Sys only then it will be lost after a reboot.

Try saving the prefs file into ENVARC:Sys or copying the save file from ENV:Sys to ENVARC:Sys after changing the pattern to your liking.

Oh, and welcome :pint:

Maybe you think of WBpattern.

But I meant that the WB is a window on the Workbenchscreen
after a fresh installation.
You can set that window as a backdrop by checkmark the "backdrop" in Workbenchmenu.

Beside, I solved the problem myself by installing 'patchwb'.

A simple way of doing this is selecting 'Windows'>'Snapshot'>'All'. This changes the wbconfig.prefs file and permanently saves it to disk.
