Hi I read awhile ago that there was supposed to be new Amigas coming out, what ever happened with that? If I had some room in the house I would set up my 500. I searched on the net and found a site that sells Amiga 1400s .But they dont say Amiga on the case. Same thing with something they call the Amiga One. Just curious. Thanks in advance Dan. :-?

AmigaOne, That would be it... Started out with the AmigaOne SE, then the AmigaOne XE, followed by the MicroA1(nanoITX).

You might want to check out the hobbyists choice for a modern day equivalent to Amiga, the Pegasos (http://www.pegasosppc.com) PowerPC which runs MorphOS (http://www.morphzone.org), a new operating system that can run a lot of old Amiga applications.
:-D :-D :-D :-D

The AmigaOne runs AmigaOS 4 wich is the offical AOS or the real AmigaOS. MorphOS is just an OS that can run some Amiga-programs.
You can find information at http://www.intuitionbase.com/
http://www.amigaworld.net/
Look at the screenshots and read the information and you'll know what the new Amiga is. It is very nice I can tell you :-)

The Amiga 1400 was just a marketing name for an A1200 motherboard in a Micronik Infinitiv tower case with a Zorro2 busboard.

Are the Amiga Ones made by Amiga I dont see them at there website. Thanks Dan

Nope. Amiga licenses and co-ordinates things, but AmigaOS is developed by a company called Hyperion, and Eyetech (a British company) deal with the AmigaOne. There's a small bit about the A1 on Amiga's site here (http://www.amiga.com/amigaos/), but they've never been the best at promotion, and that site concentrates mainly on other aspects of their business.
AmigaOS4 will run on other hardware though - an A1200 or A4000 can be expanded with an accelerator that gives them a PowerPC processor (the new AmigaOS uses the same processors as Macs) but there isn't that much point in buying one if you don't already have a decent "classic" Amiga.
BTW there's a video showing off a few of the latest features of AmigaOS4 here (http://www.amiga.dk/amigaworld.net/os4bt-march2005.avi).

Or if you already have a PC you can try AROS (http://aros.sf.net) which is an opensource AmigaOS API compatible OS for Intel/AMD processors. It has E-UAE so it can run all 68k Amiga software just like OS4 and MorphOS.
Community site is aros-exec (http://aros-exec.org)

Looks like no one is mentioning the platform Amiga Inc. is pushing: Amiga Anywhere. Supposedly a cross-platform enabling technology that allows you to run apps over different architectures with no fuss. It sounds promising, but I don't understand why half of the games on http://www.amiga.com/shop/ mention a specific platform (Mainly Microsoft PocketPC QVGA version)? Doesn't that contradict the whole concept!
Anyway, there are a few different directions, so you're spoilt for choice really!
-
Thats coz it's not Amiga compatible in any way.
It can't run Amiga stuff, nor can it run on an Amiga.

alx please don't be a troll!

I agree with Darth-X, you need to check out the other side and see what MorphOS and the Pegasos are all about as well. Its every bit as "Amiga" as the Amiga1. In fact if you like th eold Amiga apps we can run a lot more then OS4 can. But its not "real" AmigaOS, but the OS4 isnt made by any of the same people that 1.x to 3.x was so whats that say?
www.amigaworld.net for OS4 and A1 stuff
www.morphzone.org for Pegasos and MorphOS stuff

By now you might have discovered why at least I think it's utterly meaningless, if not ridiculous, to talk about "new Amigas (http://amigapop.8bit.co.uk/newamiga.jpg)" today.
There will be no more Amiga hardware. AmigaOS4 and beyond is made for third party hardware. Today, nobody develops new hardware for AmigaOS, and nobody is planning to do so. Someone has to buy a licence to sell AmigaOS bundled with a 3rd party computer/motherboard, and only then will AmigaOS be allowed to be developed for and sold with that hardware.
Unfortunately, there still only exists one such licensee, who still only markets one product line with the licensee's "AmigaOne" trademark: That's Eyetech, selling Mai Logic's Teron series motherboards.

Or the real Amiga Community Po^H^H Website, amiga.org, for both of those options, and then some. :)
