There is something strange about the major earthquakes:
1. December 26, 2004: one day after Christmas.
2. March 28, 2005: one day after Easter.
What happen one day after Pentecost (May 16, 2005) ?
The second earthquake occur 3 months after the first earthquake.
Will the 3rd major earthquake occur early July 2005?
If the 3rd earthquake occur on July 5, 2005, is the schedule just a coincidence?
-
400 dead counted, feared to be a total of 2000 :-(

There is a giant oil and gas field in Aceh (Exxon Mobile).
Is it possible that a giant Oil company use the new method to get more oil and gas?
http://ior.rml.co.uk/issue9/articles/RML/
There have been a number of examples in high watercut wells where a kick in oil production has been seen following a minor earthquake. The cause-effect connection seemed very strong so this lead to research into whether this "seismic" effect could be reproduced artificially. A detailed review has been produced by Susan Jackson, RMC, Inc. and co-authors for the US DOE National Petroleum Technology Office.

Hum,
I’m sure that it would have an effect.
(It may actually help in creating smaller quakes to relieve the stress build up that leads to a massive slippage though)
But it would be insignificant compared to the forces exerted along the fault lines.
On a slightly OT observation, the survey of the Ormen Lange natural gas field, in the north sea discovered the three Storegga Slides that are among the largest underwater landslides ever seen.
They occurred on the edge of Norway's continental shelf (Storegga is Norwegian for "the Great Edge"), 100 km north west of the Møre coast, where an area the size of Iceland slid, causing a megatsunami in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Sediments taken from the coastline of eastern Scotland show that a 10-meter high tsunamis flooded Scotland about 5,800 BC. At the time, Britain was joined to mainland Europe by a land bridge.
It is probable that the slide was caused by material built up during the previous ice age, and that a reoccurrence would only be possible after a new ice age.
But,
"While there is no reason for mass panic, the possibility exists that the Storegga slide will go again, and it would be imprudent to ignore that fact."
On the coast, no where is safe.

EWA BEACH, Hawaii (AP) - Tsunami experts could not understand why Monday's forceful earthquake off Indonesia failed to produce massive waves similar to those generated by the Dec. 26 quake that killed at least 175,000 people in the same region.
A magnitude 8.7 quake shook Indonesia's west coast, killing hundreds of people and spreading panic that another devastating tsunami was on the way.
There was no tsunami, but a small wave was detected by a tide gauge on Cocos Island near Australia, about 1,500 miles south of the epicenter, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center on Oahu.

There is another strong earthquake 6.2 Richter scale in South Of Jogyakarta, on the island of Java. At least 3000 people are killed and 10000 people are injured. The earthquake may trigger eruption from nearby Mt Merapi.
It's strange that the earthquake occurs one day after Ascension day (May 26, 2006, 18.00 in Washington DC). Is this another coincidence?
Will the next major earthquake occur on July 5, 2006?

:-( Not a good time this is.

Well, maybe... but Christmas and those other festivities originally find it's roots in old pagan religions, wich are based on the positions of the moon and the sun. So it's maybe not a coincidence.

According to Priyadi Kartono, of Indonesia's National Co-ordinating Agency for Surveys and Mapping there is a geological link between the magnitude 6.2 quake that hit near the ancient city of Yogyakarta, the rumbling of nearby volcano Mount Merapi and the 2004 Boxing Day earthquake and tsunami.
"There is certainly a connection between the December 26 quake that triggered giant waves that swept much of Aceh and the one that jolted Yogyakarta on Saturday" - Priyadi Kartono.

The recent earthquake and activity on Mount Merapi raises concerns that a so-called Toba"super-volcano" on nearby Sumatra might erupt.
