Title: PCI cards..

I have a mediator and i want to fit a ethernet card(to network to my laptop) and a sound card. Any one installed these? If so which should i buy, the simpler to make work the better! Any advice much appercated.

I have a realtek 8139 in my mediator, workes very nice.

I've always used realtek cards, probably more because they are cheap other than anything else, but I've never had a problem. Dabs.com will sell them.

I use the RTL8139 here also.  Never any problem and cheap to boot.  ($.99 on eBay)

So do you guy have you amiga networked to a pc? Is it quite simple?

Anyone recommend any good sound cards.

I have the mediator multimedia cd, does that have all the software i need?

We sell Mediator compatible kit (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=35) including the PCI network card.

Oh and these cards come with Amiga specific software and instructions.

I use D-Link DFE-530TX+ cards (they use a Realtek 8139D), Genesis (bundled with OS 3.9--doesn't support DHCP, but it works) and Cloanto's Amiga Explorer for PC <-> Amiga file transfers. All are very simple to set up, but you won't get a lot of features. For example, all transfers via Amiga Explorer are initiated on the PC side, but it's very useful for emulation enthusiasts. Of course, Genesis provides a relatively complete IP stack, so you can run whatever software you want. (You didn't mention PCs in your question, but they usually come up sooner or later.)

The Realtek 8139x cards are universally supported (Titan's latest OpenPCI driver works well), so if you have multiple Amiga setups (e.g. A1200 w/ Mediator, A3000 w/ Prometheus, Amithlon, etc.), you can standardize your software configuration.
