Title: Zip disk icon not floppy disk
Post by: Lando on March 03, 2003, 06:24:05 PM
How can I get my zip disks to show a zip disk icon as default when I insert them instead of a hard drive icon.   I have a zip disk icon.  The zip disks are PC formatted (using fat95 from Aminet).  I run OS3.9 BB2.

Hi, if I remember correctly, workbench looks into envarc:sys for all the different icons for disk. They have names like def_ram.info and def_trashcan.info.  You could try running snoopdos and check to see what workbench is looking at for the icon. You could also cheat, go into Icon->Information, copy your Zip Icon across, select save. This does work, because I've done it myself!

You could also copy an icon into the root directory of the zip disk and name it disk.info.  That icon will then be the default icon for only that individual zip disk.

You meant DISK.info, right? Not even gonna ask where your mind was..

Hehe...yeah.  Disk.info.  Damn unconnscious thoughts trying to manifest themselves at the keyboard again.  I think I will need to go see my shrink, or get a girlfriend.

Yes, I have this problem as well. I'm sure it worked properly when I first installed the Zip drive, but now it doesn't pick up the Zip disk icon from Env/sys. Maybe something related to BB1 or BB2 (I have OS 3.9)...?

A similar situation has occurred with my PlayCD GUI. It all works fine, except that the eject disk button doesn't produce the animated image it once did. Anyone got any idea why?

Cheers,

JaXanim
