Title: Blizzard 1230-IV does tickerdietickerdietick.....
Post by: PulsatingQuasar on March 03, 2003, 05:09:22 PM
Hello all,

My Blizzard 1230-IV gives an irritating ticking sound when it's cold. It's the little round crystall from the RTC that gives this sound because when I touch it, it stops!

I wan't to fix this because it irritates me to a point I can't sleep  and have to put the A 1200 in the closset.

Do all realtime clocks for the Amiga have the same crystal?? I have an Alfa Data memory expansion with such a nice little round crystal. Maybe I can solder that on!

What will it likely be for a chrystal???? A 100 kHz? 1 MHz? Or some odd value? Or does somebody have experience with this chrystal.

You could always try applying a little sticky tape?

The case of this chrystal is really soldered very well to the PCB!!!

Solved the problem!!!!

I just heated the case of the chrystal with my soldering iron and it stopped making the horribly irritating noise.
