Right, everything's working now.
I have connected the black wire into the green and black connections in the ATX Supply and it's all go. :-D
But! I still don't know what to do with the scotch-lock. The guy from Eyetech said to put the blue wire (with the metal bit on the end) into the bottom of the scotch-lock (not the metal end) and then connect the scotch-lock to the blue wire on the ATX supply.
:-?
Ermmm, how? I've only got the one blue wire. Do I need another one to put in the top of the scotch-lock and put the other end into the blue wire of the ATX supply?
Help please. It's not that urgent just now (I still haven't got an accel yet), but I'd like to get it all sorted once and for all. :-)

In my tower I have the blue wire with the pin on it connected to a -12v wire off the PSU with the scotch lock, then the pin is pushed into the middle pin of the a1200 PSU socket.
Does that help?
-
Thats exactly the one - that is how my Z4 Tower is set up. hard to remember from Vincent's original post, but you reminded me. that's exactly what you do, Vincent !
did you not get instructions from Eyetech when you bought the tower ?
-
Yeah, I know where it's to be connected, I'm just not sure how.
I got the instructions with the tower, but they're not very clear. For example, nowhere does it say that you need to connect the green wire and the black wire together. The instructions for the keyboard interface is also for a different version.
Oh yeah, the instructions are for a Scandoubler, not the Scandoubler/Flicker Fixer that I have (I had to post here to find out where to put the second socket).
So, I need another wire to put in the top of the scotch-lock, connect the top wire to the -12v wire, and the other to the middle of the original psu socket? (At least that's what it looked like on the photos someone posted for me - can't remember who, but thanks :-))
What does this wire do anyway? It doesn't need to be used for the power, so what's it's purpose?
I knew I could come here for the help :-)
Better than the help I got when I phoned Eyetech :-D

There should be a blue (I think) wire coming off your PSU, all you need to do is use the scotch lock to atatch it to the wire that goes to the middle pin of the a1200 power socket.
I don't have my amiga here to check for you, but I'm pretty sure thats it.

Just had a look at the wires from the PSU, and all the wires have connections at the end. There's only one blue wire coming from the PSU, and that's on the same connector as the green and black wires you need to connect together.
I don't get a reading from this wire at all, so I'm assuming it's not the wire I need.

I have used a couple of EZ-Towers, i'm a bit woried about the green and blacks wires? I have never touched anything but the blue wire.
The scotch lock has 2 holes. One hole is a complete circle, the blue wire supplied with the tower should be fed through it. The second hole, a semi circle, this is for connecting to the blue wire from the PSU.
Hope that makes sense.

Just scanned through the posts to find my previous one.
According to Droid on that previous post (here (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1316)):
then connect the scotch lock to the -12v on the PSU power lead (one of the 2 blocks of 4 that normally plug into a motherboard) i think its the blue lead.
As I said in the previous post, this wire doesn't give me -12v readings (it gives nothing)

Hi,
I had a load of problems getting my ez tower up and running but i never touched any other wires exept the blue one, i dont know what the purpose is ( maybe some one could tell us ) but i am up and running and it is fantastic.

Apparently the newer ATX PSU's need this wire to work. When connected to a PC motherboard, this completes part of the circuit. If it's not connected to the PC motherboard it will not work at all. Connecting these wires together completes the circuit and makes it work. (That's what I got from the guy at Eyetech anyway)
this is for connecting to the blue wire from the PSU.
This is the problem, as there is only one blue wire and it's on the same connector that plugs into the PC motherboard (two rows, with 10 wires on each row - 20 in total). There is no other wire that's not got a connector on it.

Weird, I just bought a new PSU from QuietPc. I still just have the blue wire connected. Perhaps this is becuase I have an ATX - AT adapter which does the same thing?!

Just checked inside my EZ-Tower, thats right, there is only one blue wire. There is no reason why this cant be connected to the A1200 as well.

Have you connected the blue wire that I have described (actually on the PC motherboard connector) to the scotch-lock?
I really don't want to phone Eyetech again, because they weren't that helpfull, and I've been trying to get technical support from them for about 5 days now.
-
Um, yeh disregard my comments then as I thought you had an AT psu (even thought you said you had an ATX one, doh!) I'm sure the ATX psu is a load different.
Phone eyetech, they shouldn't sell towers for god knows how much with no instructions and not expect hassle. Anyhow they deserve it they're nobs, just keep hassling em.

Snigger :-P
Cheers for trying anyway :-)

I probably will phone them again.
I wish I could just get a straight answer from them. Actually scratch that, I'll email them and ask for an email reply and see what they say then. If I don't get a proper answer, I'll phone them again.

Yep, thats right, its the 10th wire along. I found it more convienient to place the scotch lock further up the wire, nearer the PSU.
To clarify further,
- There is only one blue wire on the ATX PSU.
- This blue wire goes to the ATX connector
- The extra blue wire that came with the tower is connected to the blue ATX wire with the scotch lock.
- The metal pin on the blue wire connects to the centra of your A1200 PSU.
-

Hmmm, just looked at my connector and it's the 9th wire. This is what mine looks like (looking at the sockets with the wires away from you):
Clip (in the middle)
Orng Blu Blk Grn Blk Blk Blk Wht Red Red
Orng Orng Blk Red Blk Red Blk Grey Prpl Yllw
The blue one is the 2nd/9th wire.
Is that the same wire as yours? Also, the blue wire here does not give the -12v needed for this wire.
Does anyone actually know what this wire is for? It does not need to be plugged in for the Towered Miggy to run.
On a happier note: I've now managed to connect my monitor to the Miggy, and the SD/FF works!!!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D

Doh, cant count ;-) . Yes, its the 9th/2nd wire!
It is supposed to help if you have a heavily expanded Amiga, the floppy connector was never designed to power the Amiga. I guess it supposed to spread the load.

Cool! :-)

:-D excellent. I'll do that later on, cheers. Another person I owe a pint ;-)

Well, how's this:
2 3.5" HDs (18Gb and 2.4 Gb)
52x CD-Rom (IDE-fix 4-way buffer)
Scandoubler/Flicker Fixer
Blizzard 1230 Mk IV 50MHz (as soon as I can get one)
It's not much, but it's a good setup :-)
What I really want is PPC and graphix card :-D

I have never used it without the extra cable so I can not say for sure, however it is usualy the CPU that uses all the power (030's don't need much).
The extra cable certainly does not do it any harm 8-)
