Ok, I have a 4000 that refuses (as far as I can tell) to use
ZorroIII. I have to force my PIV in zorroII in order for the
machine to boot. When the PIV is set to auto-config, the
power led just flashes multiple times. I have also tried
using a 3640 cpu card just to see if it would work, but it did
not. I have replaced the buster 11 with a another buster 11
with no change. Any other chips control how the zorro bus
works? This seems to be the only problem with this machine.

Another thing that you could try to do is to replace the daughter-board with a new one.
Have you tried any other Z3 cards?

I have not tried another z3 card, but the PIV does work
in my 3000. Will a bad daugherboard prevent a 3640 from
working? The only reason I tried the 3640 was to possibly
test the buster chip.

Does the computer boot with only the 3640 installed and not the PIV?
I would guess on the daughterboard.

I suggested trying a different daughter board as perhaps your current one may be defective. As it is a removable part, it wouldn't be so bad to try and see if a different one would make any difference. This would have to be an A4000 daughter board. Do not try and use your A3000 one.
A3640 that's not working could be an entirely new issue. Have you set the clock jumpers on the motherboard to EXT position? This is required in order for A3640 to work.

The 3640 does not work in this machine regardless of the PIV
installed or not installed. I will doublecheck the jumpers,
but an Apollo040 and CyberstormPPC work fine. I might order
another daugherboard if I can find one that is affordable.
