Title: Getting started with A1200 and HDD?
Post by: RooDBwoY on March 07, 2005, 08:16:43 PM
Ages back i managed to get hold of an Amiga A1200 for nothing and got a 60mb hard disc from my mates' A600 which he no longer uses. I'm just wondering about getting the A1200 setup again and getting workbench and games etc running. I also want to set up the internet on it.

I already have a 100mbit full-duplex network running around the house (project photos on my website http://www.roodbwoy.com/photos/ if you're interested) with a 24/7 server [roodbwoy.com] and xbox, ps2 and several pcs all using a router-ed internet connection. I want to add the A1200 into the equation now and i have a few PCMCIA network cards floating about. I take it i can use these to get the connectivity? The only thing is, i'm fairly clueless when it comes to workbench (and my copy has corrupted) so i need some help sourcing seom kind of freeware software to get it all running. Anyone have any time to help me?

Any links to tutorials etc would be massively helpful :)

RooD.

We sell the AmigaOS 3.1 disks (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=40&products_id=177) to load Workbench onto your hard disk drive (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=2.5).

We also sell the PCMCIA network cards (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=116) with a tutorial to get online etc.

if your pcmcia lan cards are standart spec II cards, yes. You can also freely download yourself a copy of wb disks if you`re an owner of respctive os version (eg. 3.1 rom for 3.1 disks). For more - pmail me
