It seems over the past two months Google has been getting really bad in regular text searches.
Today it finds 0 links for "best desktop font"
Is there something better anyone else has found? Google is getting bad.
-
Perhaps it got bored senseless of such requests :-)
-
All you get on Google, are links to shopping sites.
I personally use www.mamma.com - The mother of all search engines.
-
Google is being ruined by people artificially increasing their page ranking and people paying to have their page listed :/

Does ASCII Fiend have a slightly older cousin called EBCDIC Warrior? And the little sister Unicode Minx? ;-)
Karlos?

Only if they are sweet and innocent. Otherwise ASCII could lose his place as the world's most irate sequence of three characters...

A turkish uni friend of mine had a default phrase he'd use on any salespeople etc that came to the door or called. It was a cracker, he'd put on this really heavy accent and announce:
"I'm apology, I don't speak england very bestly."
Killed me every time

Found this site http://www.cantfindongoogle.com/
Half the people can't find what they're looking for because of the dumb things they try in a search.
Really looking for: I\'m dying to know the name of a song that i heard someone playing some 2 years ago at camp (Seeds of Peace), i really can\'t remember ANYTHING about it. That\'s quite funny. It\'s probably a 90s song, sung by a girl, the rythm is probably similar to \"It\'s All About Money\" by Meja.
Queries tried: "Can't remember song" "Can't remember songs" "Cant remember song/s" "can't recall song", etc...
Like google is supposed to be psychic and know the song you can't remember.

Really looking for: What is my math homework for today?
Queries tried: Math homework today Montemurro M3
Comments:[/quote]
Really looking for: The name and/or artist of a song. Female singer, only real lyrics I remember are just her voice saying "do do do" over and over to the beat of the song. And a part of a line that goes something like "I was sitting on the corner".
Queries tried: You can imagine how unsuccessful one might be searching for "do do do". heh. I tried searching for variations of "sitting on the corner" and cancelling out artist names that weren't the right one (eg: -"grandmaster flash" ). No luck.
Lyrics are usually a piece of cake. Sometimes it helps to filter out junk by including the word "lyrics"
Really looking for: How to Turn £3 into £10,000 in 30 Days
Queries tried: http://www.angelfire.com/mo3/turn3into10000/
Comments: click on comments for more info, worth a look!
And then it all comes back to spam.

Here's a *MUST GOOGLE*.
Your usual username, and your most used password. Surprisingly my username was posted with one of my passwords in a textfile cached by google. Scary. Glad I no longer use a single password.

Google has always sucked. Back when Altavista was the best things were much easier to find. Remmeber when searches had a boolesk logic syntax:
Amiga&java&!(tao|amigade)
half the time on google I only find:
www.german-porn-warez-spam.de (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&c2coff=1&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Asv-SE%3Aofficial&as_qdr=all&q=german+porn+warez+spam&btnG=Search&lr=lang_de)
Why are the germans competing with the russians at search spaming?
-
Woah. Webcrawler finds hits for "Best Desktop Font".
Only engine that returned a hit so far.
-
:roflmao:
Google is improving... now THIS page shows up as the only result!

I always used Webcrawler when the web was new. It's directory search only, eh?
