This is the highly antipated flash card reader for the C64/128. My initial order is for 10 boards. If you would like to pre-order one of the initial batch, PM me directly.

As always I do not accept preorder for items not available, only when stock is in transit and expected in a reasonably short period of time. As with the Catweasel MK4 and C-One recently, buyers got their order in the promied timeframe. I expect stock between the 17th - 22nd. Orders placed now will ship within 24 hours of arrival and will arrive to buyers door step 2-3 days after arrival in the USA. Any remaining stock will be place in inventory on the redrumloa eShop, for those not wishing to preorder. I hope to stabalise stock levels by mid April.

I set up my own personal C-One over the weekend. What a sweet little computer. It certainly has some little quirks still(firmware and cores still beta), but I was able to hook up a real 1541 and play most games I threw at it. i can't wait until some of these new cores are released.

I'm interested in this cartridge mainly for the purpose of easy d64 image transfer back onto real DD disks. What software is included that would provide this function, on both the PC and C64 side? Can you give a little more info on how this is done? Thanks.

Here's manufacturer's information:
MMC64 is an MMC- and SD-card interface for the C64 computer. It uses the multimedia and Secure Digital flash cards that are known from the PDA world. That means that after you power up the computer, you can access any MMC or SD card that's FAT16-formatted - up to the size of 4GB! The built-in and flashable BIOS with integrated file browser allows the user to load games and other programs, play SID-files with the built-in player, or write D64 images to a floppy drive.
Of course you can use a READER (http://www.compusa.com/products/products.asp?N=0&Ntt=secure%20digital%20flash%20reader&Ntk=All&Nty=1&D=secure%20digital%20flash%20reader&Dx=mode%20matchall) On the PC to download files off the internet to put on the flash card. Then pop the flash card in the MMC64 and use the file browser. Sweet:-)

Yes, that does sound pretty sweet. :-)
I need something nice and easy, as I am tired of booting into DOS and relying on a compatible x86 motherboard, for use with Star Commander.
One last question remains...will it be able to use warp transfers? :-) I sure hope so.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself here, I have yet to use one myself. -edit-
I just realised you probably meant warp transfer to the C= drive? I don't know, that will be dependant on the utility built in. I'll try to determine the maturity/features of this utility and report back later.
Why write to a floppy disk though? Load the game right from the flash card at blazing speed:-)

That's exactly what I meant. Warp transfer to and from 1541 drive is a must, IMHO. I e-mailed Jens and I'll see what he has to say about it. :-)

I just received a quick reply from Jens. :-)
Normal DOS commands are used for d64 image transfers. :-( It seems that for faster transfer speed you need an alternative solution, e.g. SpeedDos or DolhpinDos, as per Jens.

Ok that's not so bad. There's also JiffyDOS, Mach5, Mach128, Retro Replay. Just bundle your MMC64 with a Retro Replay, which has a built in turbo loader.

You know what, that got me thinking...
The MMC64 has a clockport compatible with the RR-Net. It also has a passthrough which is compatible with the Retro Replay. The retro replay also has a clockport device(of course)which is compatible with the RR-Net and Silver surfer.
So why not use a MMC64 -> RR-Net / Retro replay -> Silver Surfer. Now we're talking:-D

I'm wondering why they just don't make a RR++ (ie. RR with MMC addon). That way I don't have to clear 12" of space behind the C64. :-D

Well to use a Retro Replay and MMC64 at the same time doesn't take nearly 12", less than half that actually.

The Retro Replay would plug into the pass through, but would not add to the depth. This is a HUGE improvement over using a Retro Replay plugged into the cart port, with a RR-net plugged into that. Now THAT takes a good 10-12 inches..

Wish there was some sort of case for it, esp with the RR-net installed.
Also any chance of bundles down the road?
RR-Net + MMC64, or even one with Retro Replay for example?
