If your using it on XP with SP2 then apparently there is some manner of problem causing this. I think Epson have released new drivers to cure this.

EDIT:

Also if it's on a windows machine you might need to set up your colour profiles.

I have an R800, and I'm gonna assume the R200 has the UltraChrome inks too... If that's the case, the media you use makes an enormous diference to printouts, if you're not using Epson paper specifically for those inks, you can get too much ink laid down, resulting in too dark a picture, or bronzing which is a metallic sheen over the picture, especially in the darker areas. Failing that, if you're using it on a PC, use the Printing Preferences window of the printer to increase the gamma or brightness setting. If you can't see these you may have to switch to Advanced, and/or switch Colour Management to Colour Controls or Manual...

All that is of course once you have made sure you have all your drivers fully up to date.

Somemone called? :-)

There is a WinXP security update, that interferes with Epson's colour management. This update is included in SP2, but it can also be installed under SP1. Unfortunately, I can't remember which one it is (I'm not at work right now).

All Epson-drivers that are version 5.5 or higher contains a fix for this issue. Look at epson.co.uk for the latest driver for the R200.

You can also work around this issue, by using a program that uses ICC-profiles (Photoshop for example), selecting the Epson profile, and then disable the colour management in the driver (Printing properties -> advanced).

This applies to all Epson printers, not just the R200.

Oh, BTW, the R200 uses normal dye-based inks, not UltraChrome.
