Title: Amiga Show in the UK
Post by: Ryu on February 19, 2005, 03:27:22 PM
Im thinking about organising a bit of a show for the term holidays which start at the end of next month... The proposed date of the show is the 2nd of April.

The event will be a do what you want affair. Bring whatver machines you want and just have some fun

The venue isnt finalised yet but it will have a bar and the event itself will be held during the afternoon and evening time with the possible option of a meal afterwards if anyone comes and is staying over in Skittyhorpe...

So please goto www.IntuitionBase.com/SCAG and give me your vote

If this can go ahead I'll be there with the AROS tower of power, and probably some other goodies to keep everyone amused :-)

Scunny is within easy range of many northern towns, so for anyone that has been unable to get to the Big Bash shows this would be ideal.  Plus the next Big Bash is in September, so this could help tide anyone with itchy fingers over 'till then!

Please go to Ryu's site and vote if you'd like to come so things can be arranged :-)

I'm trying to think how I can pitch a night with a bunch of fellow Amiga nerds to her as a "Birthday Surprise".  Her birthday is April fools day afterall. :-D

What are the benefits of using WinUAE.exe as a shell? Why not just autorun WinUAE?

Anyone have a perfect A500 configuration for WINUAE?

Cheers

Heh! I may come for a laugh. I can imagine the reaction on peoples' faces when they see CU_AMiGA, Sumner7, and Jonopike bursting through the door! Actually i have a number of interesting comps. Including Neo-Geo AES (great for anime fighting games machine), oh yeah and my Amiga 1200

Yes, Ryu is planning to bring both his A1 and PPC A1200 with OS4.

For classic gaming we'll have (at least) 2 XBoxes (linked) with Midway Arcade Treasures 1 & 2 on tap, and I'm sure at least one CD32 will be there (Ryu's!) - but of course the more the merrier.

Of couse, anyone could bring their PC to the Show, and I'm sure Holley would stick a copy of the latest version of AROS-MAX on it free of charge ;-)

Well assuming it does go ahead my BPPC A1200 OS4 machine will be there... so long as it survives the journey...

The A1 isnt mine but a member of IntuitioBase, and hopefully he will be there with his microA1.

As good as they are, i think the Neo-Geo AES would be the highlight of the day. It would definately be the thing that would prompt people to come (as well as seeing CU_AMiGA in the flesh), it has the potential to be a money spinner for you Ryu! :-)

bloodhound should be the entertainer (a clown maybe)

Yeah, the tower of power is a P4 1500MHz (soon to have native graphics, sound and network cards).  It can run a dozen of the AROS graphical demos at the same time without breaking a sweat.

I don't mean to wave my willy, but try running AROS on an Athlon64 3200+ with 1Gig of dual channel DDR PC3200 ram and a PCIe GeForce 6600 :-D

Title: Amiga Event in the UK almost certainly will go ahead.
Post by: Ryu on February 24, 2005, 08:22:44 PM
@all @All

Okay after a *lot* of hastle I've finally prety much secured a venue... My application has to go infront of a committe next week but that should just be a formality. Once Im a member I can then book the venue.

With the help of a friend I have been round prety much every suitable venue in Skittyhorpe and they have all proven to be either too expensive, already booked up or not suitable after all.

So the downside to all this is that the show now looks like its going to be held in a village just a mile or so outside of Skittyhorpe, but we will still have our bar

Also dont worry about mileage since its about the same distance from the motorway as my original venue I was trying to book. You just take the first exist from the end of motorway roundabout rather than the 3rd

Stay tuned for an updated website and an official news announcment over the weekend.

The more XBoxes that people can bring the better, due to the amount of time available it means quick & easy Lan gaming (with Halo 1/2, Project Gotham 1/2, Midway Treasures 1/2 available).

As for the willy waving, my total build cost so far is still under £100 (just) :-D

I agree, it runs damn fast on my laptop of the same spec! (Well 128MB Geforce 9600, I'm still hoping for a Radeon driver!)
