Hi dudes
Im using an IDE oktagon in my 2k.
I have been using a 2gb disc with it for more than a year, but then i switched to a 2.5 gb drive but if I make any partition beyond the 2Gb space, I can format it later.
Then I switched over a 20 gb drive but it only seems to recognice 7,4 Gb!
The oktagon is here http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=532 . Since it have been given to me as is, no drivers nor nothing, i managed to get it working with oktagon.device put in the expansion drawer, but I dunno if its correct form
Best Regards and thx in advance

Hello. Use this tool for the Oktagon 2008 IDE controller and Tandem IDE controller ( tandem is non-autoboot tho )
http://www.aminet.net/package.php?package=disk/misc/hdinst.lha
Its the latest version 6.9 ( set the language option to English from pull down menu )
It is the software that should have come with your harddrive controller card.
I'm not sure which rom revision you have on your IDE controller, this will determine what hard drive capacity you can identify and use with AmigaOS. I beleive Oktagon rom revisions lower than 6.6 will max out at drive capacity of 2.1gig

Thanks for the reply
Im unsecure if im using the correct device file (the one ehich stans in Expasion drawer). Im not at home, so I cant tell what file is exactly.
I have to use the same for the oktagon?
Best Regards

Yes, the HDinstTools software is for Oktagon primarily, but also works on just about any "driver.device" selectable scsi/ide controller.
scsi.device
atapi.device
tandem.device etc
Doesn't work with GVP drives!
They have their own proprietory FaaastROM drivers and onboard roms.
