I've seen stories of overzealous clamping companies doing this to coppers and even ambulances. This is what happens when you privatise this sort of industry and give it targets on how many clamps you put down per month, and give bonuses for exceeding them.

There was a chap in London going by the name of "Angle Grinder Man" or something who wore a lycra superhero outfit and freed clamped cars with the aid of an angle grinder.

A true superhero if ever there was one, a nation remains grateful.

Clamping is ridiculous weather it's an emergency vehicle or not. What's wrong with a good old fashioned ticket?

I believe I already explained it.  It has nothing to do with reality and it's all about the money...  The more they boot, the more they get paid, the better bonuses they get.
