Title: Introduction from the Far Side of the World
Post by: Dr_Nineman on February 13, 2005, 11:21:05 AM
While living as an ex-pat in Kenya for a year, this is my sole outlet to an Amiga habit I have yet to kick.  Thanks amiga.org and greetings to all!

Yes, indeed.  The avatar is a screenshot from the F/A-18 Interceptor intro.  I did a screen dump in UAE and edited out the text with MS-Paint.  My screen-name is also a tribute to the author...

Actually, it's an two-letter anagram of a single last name (i.e., the author).  Unfortunately, I couldn't come up with anything that didn't include "Dr".  Thus, the Dr. part is more practical than egotistical... :-)

F/A-18 Interceptor indeed has to be the most brilliant 3D-plane shootem-up to have been released on the Amiga. Clever usage of Dinnerman :).

Oh welcome here :pint:!

I do, indeed, have an Amiga.  More specifically, I am using a stock A1200 with a scan doubler / flicker fixer.  She sits under a beautiful 18" NEC LCD (they match nicely).  I am contemplating an upgrade but just can't bring my self to spend the big bucks for a Blizzard 060/PPC -- which would allow me to surf the web.  I am fundamentally opposed to towering her, too...

@nineman

There is no need to buy an expensive and probably hardoverclocked secondhand (talking from my own experience) BlizzardPPC as much was.

ACk industries are planning to release an only PPC turboboard for 1200 series which fits on the 1200s trapdoor (that means no 68k at all on accelerator) which will run nicely Os4 in your setup at only-on-dream speeds for 1200.

There are no pics of that accelerator yet, but its supossed to be in the streets aproximately in June 2005 for a comparable price of a "fast" 603 Blizzppc second hand for 1200.

For more references you can find the official anouncement in the historic news section of this very site.
