Title: Quake2 OS4 sound quality
Post by: ikir on February 05, 2005, 09:41:57 AM
Quake2 runs ok even in software on my A1, but i have a very low quality audio. Is it a problem of this beta? Do i need to run quake2 with a special ahi quality option?

i have exactly same quality on my 1200 as on the a1 (os3.x and os4x) , as i told you before, set the quality in the GUI (the hyperion gui) or read the optimize docs on how to set env's ingame.

btw thoose env's u set in the console INGAME and it saves it then and will be used every time until u either do a NLRU or changes the options.

I'll check the docs again. I don't want a gui i've already created a script for Q2.

@ ikir

The 16 bit sound has some problem I haven't looked into yet. You can switch to 8 bit sound: Bring down the console ('^' key) and enter

ahi_bits 8
snd_restart

This should "fix" the sound problems for now...

[edit]
There are two other variables: ahi_speed (either 11 or 22) can be used to set 11 KHz or 22 KHz, and ahi_channles (1 or 2) to set mono or stereo.

ikir:you dont want to use the gui to configure as you use a script... ok well i use a script too and after u set the settings in the gui u can start it from a script and the settings/vars u set will still be active....

no one said u had to run the gui everytime :-)
