Please support our #amiga.org channel on Webnet
Athough there is a hard core of users present often during UK and European evening hours, the channel needs more people visiting just for a quick chat etc during other hours of the day too.
Even if it's a once a week visit for 15 minutes, all I ask is that the membership help support this channel and inturn I canl give regular and trustworthy users Operator status etc to help support the channel further. So if you have time to spare and can just logon for a while it would be very much appreciated
Thanks and Hugsxx

I'm there :-D .

shoulda gone with efnet.... I'd be there... webchat? blah
-
Boudicca,
You could add...
linux = http://xchat.org
..to your siggy. I am currently using xchat version 2.0.0 and it works great. And there's also a port for windows which I'll have to try next time I boot up the beast because I prefer it to mirc. Now it supports tcl scripting so it offers lots of stuff to play with.
Everyone else:
When/if amiga.org goes down, remember the channel will still be there. It's really good. Plus I might be there. Come and say hi.
It's dead easy to connect to. And even if webchat isn't your favourite network, most irc clients allow you to connect to more than one at a time and it uses very little bandwidth. There is no (good) excuse not to join the fun.
:-D

If it was ARCNet, i'd pop in.

I'd go there if almost everyone wasn't using mIRC or xChat. IRC is all about sharing common interests, and I have no common interests with Windows and Linux users.
Anyway, its pretty much dead. Maybe you should set an idle ban. Too many chansleepers ruin a channel.

@kennyr:
God, you're really a fundamentalist, aren't you =).

@ Boudicca,
Please support our #amiga.org channel on Webnet
I always pop in there when I get an IRC client going on one of my machines. That's happening less now lately 'cause we're busy remodeling a room in preparation for our new baby arrival.

Yes. :-)

Amiga org even has its own bar man!
Rudei!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:-D
-
I pop in there now and again
looking forward to meeting some of you :-)

If it would be in ircnet, efnet or galaxynet, I'd pop in :) Just too many different irc networks.. why can't people stay on couple of major nets ;)
-
I run XChat and I refuse to use an Amiga to IRC... I dont mind idlers because their good to have some people always around irreguardless if they idle or not.
KennyR I think it's pretty lame to say without so many words... that you dont want to chat unless we all use 060's ... thats kinda lame...what about AmigaOne purchasers who use Linux and Xchat? are they also 'baddies' or what?
-
In reply to those who want #amiga.org on a "major" network......
1.who are you kidding, webnet is a major....
2.Undernet / Ircnet / Efnet etc are full of complete idoits....
3. server policy rules are a joke... at least on webnet I can pull a few strings and get users and channels banned from the network.
4. I dont want sub seven hacks attempts every 3 secs or being sent trojans via dcc.
5. It doesn't take a genius to run two clients connecting to two networks....
6. If the channel you live is yours or ure an op....msg me on #amiga.org and we can come to an arrangement for possibly merging.
Cheers
Bouddica

Do you really think so? IMO, the thing even less inviting than an empty channel is a channel full of nicks who never, ever talk. Where's the point, exactly?

No, I'll chat with anyone who shares interests with me. I've just been to too many "Amiga" channels where all they seem to discuss is Linux or PC games. This bores me. I'm sure these people would be bored with me wanting to talk about the Amiga. I think it's strange you can label a channel #?Amiga#? and yet not have a single Amiga in it. It's like going to #Atheism and finding out they're all catholics, if you know what I mean.
But anyway, those channels are not for me. And from their point of view, they'd probably be happier without me.
what about AmigaOne purchasers who use Linux and Xchat? are they also 'baddies' or what?
I've never met any. All of the xChat users I've met are running x86 Linux. If they have an Amiga, why not use it? Again, I'm quite puzzled at this behaviour. Linux channel sleepers are my pet hate (except where they can be useful and/or entertaining now and again). Again, if i meet an A1 Linux user I'll only be willing to chat if they have something I want to hear.
In the end, it comes down to common interests. One man's meat is another man's poison, as they say.

I'd pop in but I don't know how to use my IRC Mac software yet. :-(

Join us.....join us
Its a great channel. Almost no PC talk. Some Amiga talk with a liberal spreading of madness.
