Title: Dopus problem
Post by: lurkist on January 28, 2005, 09:08:48 PM
I'm trying to do a simple thing, a batch rename in Dopus.
I need to pick a bunch of files, press a button and type in a new name for them including numbering.
All the rename utils i've tried seem to require complicated matching for the input, but i'm supplying it directly by picking the files!
Am i missing something?

Which DOpus version?

I have written a script for DOpus 4 that takes all selected files and renames (copies/moves) them into a numbered sequence. You decide the name, the position of the numbers and the number of leading zeros in the numbers by giving a starting number and entering the new file name like this:

foo???bar.jpg

The question marks will be replaced with the numbers, the number of question marks indicates the number of digits you want to have. Assuming you entered "1" as the starting number, the above example would create files like this:

foo001bar.jpg
foo002bar.jpg
foo003bar.jpg
...

The script won't work with DOpus 5/Magellan though. An older version is part of the Dopus 4 Plus (http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminetbin/find?dopus4plus) package and I can send you an e-mail containing the latest version.

Sounds perfect, and i'm using v.4.
I've downloaded it!
Many thanks,

Check the manual for "PatternOpus".
