Title: amiga games on mobile phones?
Post by: aasmund on January 21, 2005, 06:00:32 PM
Is there any java games for mobile phones?

Since there is so many great games for amige that dont need much space, should not the mobile market go crazy to get amiga games?

I downloaded 700 games for my Nokia 6230, and there's quite a lot of Amiga game clones.

Not exactly an Amiga game but Sky Force (http://www.idreams.pl/skyforce/skyforce.html) is something I really recommend if you own an S60 phone.

The same company (http://www.idreams.pl/) actually made some Amiga games 10 years ago..

I have SE K500i.
Any games for this one?

I was hoping for lotus turbo...
                 black crypt
                 lemmings
                 dogs of war
                 and others with original sound/music
some commodore like last ninja and paperboy.

Rick Ranger is a Rick Dangerous clone made in Java for Nokia S40 and S60 phones.

Pretty nice, except that Rick's sideways movement stops if he hits something mid-air (you have to press sidways again once he's cleared that object to continue "flying".. Makes playing a bit difficult if you're used to the original way of things.

Where did you hear that?  Was it an official announcement?

If the new Nokia phones are going to be running OS4 that would be big news for the Amiga community!

I think he is referring to the Garry Hare speech from Amiwest about Amiga being interested in portable devices.

Cant see moblie phones running amigaOS, that seems incredibly unlikely, besides, symbian and windowsmoblie seem to have that market pretty much covered atm (although i believe there is a linux based mobile in development)

There was a team porting UAE to symbian UIQ (touchscreen mobiles) but i dont know if it was ever finished or what happend to it, havent heard of it for a while.

There is a thing which allows you to play monkey island and similar games on symbian phones tho.
