Hello
I want to know about something to do with SFS and partition limit (and i think i am going to be dreading the answer).
I am using SFS (the latest version from Aminet), and have 2 partitions:
Workbench 500MB
Entertainment 3.5gig
But i read somewhere that the maximum partition limit is 2gig? Does this also apply for SFS, and what trouble would lie ahead for me?!
Regards,

I don't think you have to worry. I have a 76 GB partition formatted with SFS, and I have never had problems with it. Most of my partitions is over 4 GB, so it works fine.
The guide says
o The size of a file is limited to 2 GB (AmigaDOS)
o Support for partitions larger than 4 GB or located (partially)
beyond the 4 GB barrier on your drive. There is support for the
New Style Devices (NSD) and the 64-bit trackdisk commands (TD64)
which support 64 bit access.
o Supports large partitions. The limit is about 2 TB, but it can be
more depending on the blocksize (32KB/Block -> 128 TB).
No need to worry indeed :-)

Have also used SFS in the past and can confirm it supports partitions larger than 4Gb so you should be okay.

Well i am using the default IDE interface on the A1200. No PowerFlyer or buffered IDE Interfaces.

check if you have the lastes at:
http://home.wtal.de/js/index.phtml
1.230 fixes some problems of 1.227.
SFS limit partition for NOT boot, is far to 4 GB ;-)
~124 GB or so (blocks of 512).
EDIT- just found a post of Jörg Strohmayer on the SFS ML:
> Did you test this. Does e.g. a 127GB partition not give you the same problems?
It's not related to LBA28, it's not a disk size but partition size limit, and it's not even 128 GB, it's 124.9 GB (with 512 bytes/block).

~124 GB or so (blocks of 1024 or 2048 bytes).
Hi
Many thanks. I think i have version 1.227. Would i just replace the 1.227 SMartFileSystem file with the 1.230 version (in L: i think).

not only . . .
you have to load HDToolbox and do un Update filesystem and save.
EDIT- IMPORTANT
i have edited my previous post.
Use 512 as blocksize for the best performances
