Title: Oh... my... God... my Amiga T-shirt arrived
Post by: KennyR on January 17, 2005, 09:13:04 AM
Yes, really. After all these years of waiting after buying the Amiga Club voucher, today a strange white envelope from the USA came through my door and inside was a grey T-shirt with the Amiga.com logo. No voucher, no leaflets: just the T-shirt. I bet you thought I would be the last person to tell you the infamous T-shirts had been delivered, eh?

This isn't a joke or a prank or troll bait. I have no reason to lie about it. If you check AmigaWorld and ANN you'll see other people got theirs too.

Finally! I read the posts o ver AW.net and ANN. This time seems to be true.

KMOS act very slowly, but at least the T-Shirt are being delivered. So they fix an error of the old Amiga Inc.

Enjoy your T-Shirt :-)

I'll believe it when I pull it out of the postbox. Till then, I await Tuesday's mail delivery. Could be interesting it seems.

Edit: My drowsy brain at 4:30 AM forgot it was a national holiday, so now mail.

Well, it's an encouraging start.  Without trying to sound like a troll, it's difficult to see how everyone else will take an OS developer seriously when they take 3 years to produce some T shirts!

If the shirts have turned up then it's a reason to be cautiously optimistic I guess.

Wait a minute, there's a girl in your room!

/me checks to the membership guidelines... I'm sure this is a violation... :-)

I'm surprised about the t-shirts.  Of course I can't log into amiga-anywhere.com to double-check my address is correct (though I'm 90% sure it is) because they've shut that part of the site down "until Jan 2005".

You're looking in the wrong place at A.Inc's oh so structured and organised site. Try here (http://os.amiga.com/), bottom right, 'login'.

I have been thinking about buying some similar t-shirts.

Is there a site with Amiga logos that would look nice on t-shirts?

I smell another hoax, less original than the original. Ok, maybe I shouldn't be so pessimistic. An extremely late step in the right direction, but a step netherless.

If they really are all shipped, the sad part is probably 2/3+ of the people receiving the shirts have long moved away from the platform.

Huh, what's this? Amiga?!?!?? Whut the.. Oh yeah..

I too fell off my chair, the parrot dropped dead.... well not really, BUT I TOO have had a T-SHIRT through the post.

I too did not get a VOUCHER, as yet, but I was hoping that if I ever got a T-SHIRT that I would get a VOUCHER, or some NEWS about when the VOUCHER would be sent, if the cash up front was to be HONOURED. I have asked the webmaster at AMIGA.COM several times, got a reply a couple of times saying...looking into that, but no reply!

ANYONE out there from KMOS or AMIGA.COM want to say something NOW, so we can all be treated like BIG BOYS & GIRLS.

Expensive like...  $50.  Oh wait, that's what they cost 3 years ago.  Imagine the current market value,  KMOS must be losing a bundle on this deal.  ;-)

Hummm - you bought an "Amiga Club voucher"?

What I bought for 50 Euros was:
- a coupon for a 50 Euro rebate when I eigther buy OS4, an A1 or both,
- a lifelong "I am club Amiga" membership,
- and last but not least an "I am club Amiga"-t-shirt.

And as of today (18th of January 2005, 9.30 a.m.) I havn't got any of them.

That's exactly what I was afraid of:
They forgot the most important thing - the coupon!

I put my money where my mouth was - to get it back in form of a rebate when I buy one of the products, once they are availabe.

*THAT* was the reason for me to buy the coupon - and nothing else.

I always saw the T-Shirt and the club membership as nice add-ons - as a kind of "Thank you for being interested"!

Now its getting obvious that I'm finally - after several years of waiting - going to be fobbed off with a f****n' shirt for 50 Euro!

That's what's called *FRAUD* here in Germany by law - no matter if the owners changed or not!

And I will certainly *NOT* deal ever again with someone who once frauded me.

According to German law you have to pay the debts, if you buy a company that owes the money to it's customers.
If you buy such a company, you buy the debts as well.

If you do not want to pay the debts of a bankrupt company, then just don't buy that company.

Buy their patents/rights instead...

Yeah we all know that we also bought a coupon.. and guess what, we want them too (I guess, I can only speak for myself)..
But my suggestion is to keep cool and wait until OS4 is released (or a month longer).. if you haven't got your coupon then, sue amiga or kmos and quit the amiga scene or whatever.. but constantly {bleep}ing in forums doesn't help anyone..

There are two simple reasons for my constant {bleep}ing:
1) One of the responsibles somehow notices my constant bleeping, understands my point and that there are others as well with this valid point of view and then accepts the need of a change for the better.

2)Not to let newcomers to the Amiga scene get an wrong impression of the current situation (-> fair play: no lies).

IMO this is the *ONLY* chance to get things better.
I'm afraid the responsible persons will only move to change things for the better if they really are afraid that no one will buy from them...

I understand what you mean.. But do you really think gary hare reads amiga forums? If you are really serious about complaining maybe than the most effective way is to send him an email. I think all/most people that read the forums here share your opinion that it will be a shame if they don't send us the coupons but are also tired of the 1000th "f*ck amiga where is my money" post.
But on the other hand maybe this is indeed the right time for amiga/kmos to tell how they will handle the coupon issue.

Why is it getting obvious? They just fullfiled one part of their promises, somehow I don't see why this should be taken as a proof that they will not deliver the rest of the goods?

I'm not saying they will fullfill all their promises (after all, Hare did not address this issue at all yet) and it's probably a good idea to remain sceptical - but your outburst ("obvious", "f****n'") just irritates me.

Emphasis is on "one part".
I see it that way, that there originally were 3 parts.
And them taking three and a half(!) years just to fulfill the most needless one of the three promises clearly shows - from my point of view - that they do not take their customers serious at all.

And I really can't see any chances for an successfull future for a company that constantly refuses to take its customers needs serious or even to talks to them.

cgutjahr wrote:

If you read my posting more carefully, you would possibly have noticed that I used the term "It's getting obvious" and not "This is the proof".

"Is getting" describes an ongoing process.
I was more looking at a single snapshot of the current state of this process.
And from this snapshot it looks like the train is running in that direction.
But it can as well be that the direction will change again (perhaps even for the better, this time) on behalf an unexpected curve ahead - who knows.
At this point I just don't think it's very likely...

While I really cannot understand what you think is wrong with "obvious" ("offensichtlich" in German), I at least masked the displeasing word to avoid irritations.

Besides that I'm just a human - and sometimes just fail to hide my motions, which is quite common for human beings.

It should not happen, but it happens to each of us from time to time.

After waitng three and a half years(!) for the promises to be fulfilled (and then finally realizing that just the most needless one is obviously going to be fulfilled), after having heard all these boastfull annoucements that were never realized up to now, it's even somehow understandable for the most people, that one might loose his temper.
