Title: Amigatech a1200 m/b , rbm zorro2 bus and picassoII
Post by: keropi on January 11, 2005, 09:37:59 PM
Well, I just physically installed the picassoII card I just got, and it actually shows up in early startup menu, with the normal id's , 2671-11,12... BUT upon entering OS3.9 I get graphical corruption, and that is using the AGA chipset... the maschine does not crash, but the display goes happy-color ... like a bad vram or something.... taking out the picassoII, all is OK.
Now the a1200 board I have is made by AmigaTech, and not C ... I heared it has some timing issues amongst other bad stuff, should I just swap it with my desktop's a1200 m/b, which I pressume is C built (since the chips have the Commodore logo, and not the HP one...) what do u think? The detailed specs are on my signature.... also the p5 1260 is rev.II ....

I have read about problems with the OnBoard Zorro board for your RBM tower... but can not remember where and what it was. Should find out though because I bought such an OnBoard Zorro board for my own RBM tower

hey effy!
I think I'll try swapping the m/b with my C one... but before I do it, I just need to hear more opinions...  :-D
is it really the timing issues of amigatech m/b ?

The 1d4 board has timing issues (apparently).

So does the 2B, which AFAIK the Amiga tech ones were..

Ian Stedman has a useful page that shows the mods needed to fix it...Linkety-link (http://www.ianstedman.co.uk/Amiga/amiga_hacks/A1200_Mobo_fix/a1200_mobo_fix.html)

So, either way I have to apply the fixes? This is annoying... anyone has any experience with the RBM hardware? Also, is there a manual for the actual busboard?

Here are some pics, not of great quality though, as the camera on 6600 is 0.3MP ... :rolleyes

Here is the evil jumpers on the busboard... currenlty both are set to OPEN as I use a phase5 Blizzard 1260 REV 2 ...

and here is the resulting Board Diagnostics from early startup menu, all seem OK

but when OS3.9 loads I get these kind of gfx errors.... I have installed the p96 software, but it seems non fuctional...   at least I have no p96 screenmodes...

Also my picassoII uses the CL5428 chip.... any ideas? :-?
