Post by: whabang on January 11, 2005, 03:49:53 PM
CDTV (http://www.blocket.se/view/4022658.htm?caller=he_s&l=0&c=1&city=0)
Unfortunately, I don't have the cash to buy it myself.

Hello,

I can't believe people actually worship this heap of junk. It is by far the worst Amiga ever (apart from A500+, but that is another story).

Regards,

@LinchpiN

Well they were good machines, but they were pointless. Why didn't they just stick with the A500 and jump straight to the AGA machines. It makes sense to me.

Regards,

True, people seemed to like them tho.

I remember the only reason i changed from my a500 to a500+ was to upgrade the memory, I have a ProRamII Board somewhere, (if anyone wants to purchase it let me know!) Its a500+ only tho. I remember upgrading the kickstart in my a500 heh those were happy day's.

Commodore trying to save money... again... An A500 AGA should have been released in 1990, but it was cheaper just to keep rebundling the same old Hardware... Unfortunatelly Commodore were stuck in the C64 mentality where the same hardware could be sold again and again with little or no change for well over a decade.

... An A500 AGA ...

Now that would have been nice, maybe even helped save the Amiga.

I was just curious of how much would be chipmem and how much would be fastmem (and slowmem), in an A500+.

And ahead of its time. And Unique.

I guess some people like that sorta thing. Me? I couldnt care less if my computer was housed in a shoe box, looked like a piece of crud, but worked. That would suit me fine.

Yeah, I have a towerized A500+, currently with a 1MB chipmem expansion in the trapdoor. I also have a GVP SCSI board that I plan to populate with 8MB fastmem. Now, I'd also like some slowmem, just for the sake of it! ;) The question is how I achieve that while still having 2MB chipmem. I'm thinking of trying an A2000 model A slowmem expansion in the CPU slot of my tower, but they are hard to find...

I thought maybe the ProRam II could help me in my endeavour. Is it especially made for the A500+, i.e. without a clock battery?

GVP Impact Series II for the A500? I might have 2 4MB SIMMs for the thing laying around. PM me!

Actually, since it's in a tower, I use the Zorro version! :-D Well, I do have a side-car version too, but also 2 4MB SIMMs for it. [I wish there was Magnum P.I. style smiley, you know, in the intro where Tom Selleck does that thing with his eyebrows...]
