Now this is weird. I've been using my A2000 for about 3 - 4 weeks now, and have never seen this. Today, for the first time, I got a weird boot up screen that says 'Optimized For Best Workbench Performance' then in the lower left hand corner 'Dolby Stereo', and in the lower right, 'THX'. What the HECK'S going on?? The screen is dark blue, gray, and black.

THX was a great mod tracker.
Have you installed MagicWB?
its a boot screen of MagicWB :-)

Thanks everybody! That was weird. Yes, I did install MWB a couple of weeks ago. Never saw that boot up screen before.

Yes that crappy screen annoyed me to all heck so much when I tried out MagicWB that I never loaded it again.. I use Amiga Forever/WinUAE mostly today and that silly screen would also crash UAE or put it in some mode it couldn't come out of even with mode promotion on..
I would have bought magicwb and paid the shareware fee if it weren't "tricked out" with that screen..

@DonnyEMU
It was an "easter egg" of sorts -- only showed up once in a while.
By changing the settings (read the docs!) you can make it happen on every boot -or- turn it off all together.

Ahh, I remember fondly back to that first time MagicWB surprised me with that intro screen. I too had used it for a week or so without ever seeing (or hearing!) the intro. Suddenly, I turn on my A2000 one day and the speakers plugged into the back in preparation for starting up a game later. The volume was set pretty high. I'm sitting there reading a manual for some game or other waiting for the Amiga to quiet boot into Workbench when all of a sudden that darn THX screen sound blasts out of the speakers. I nearly fell out of my chair.

:-D Glad I didn't have my speakers on! :-D

I like that "Easter Egg"
I never attempted to get it to appear every boot, but it is a neat surprise, especially for the first time! Especially since my 2000 is connected to a 150 watt per channel Pioneer system.

Good link! Almost my experience exactly. I'd just rebooted, (after having booted in to native 68000 mode to play the Three Stooges Game), and was making myself busy while waiting for the Amiga to reboot. Then, I see this screen out of the corner of my eye, and I started screaming for my Auntie Emm! It happened again, a few reboots later, to my complete and utter confusion. "How drunk was I last night, and did I install some software I just didn't recall?!?" :lol:
